Uh-Oh.....Chocolate Bubble..... EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/markets/7895242/Mystery-trader-buys-all-Europes-cocoa.html

The purchase was enough to move the entire global cocoa market, sending the price to the highest level since 1977, and triggering rumours and intrigue in the City.

snip

The cocoa beans, which are sitting in warehouses either in The Netherlands, Hamburg, or closer to home in London, Liverpool or Humberside is equivalent to the entire supply of the commodity in Europe, and would fill more than five Titanics. They are worth £658 million.

Analysts said it was very unlikely that a chocolate company, such as Nestle or Kraft, or even their suppliers, would buy such a huge order in one go and that is was probable that one or a number of speculators, possibly hedge funds, had attempted to corner the market. By doing this, they would have control of the entire supply in Europe, forcing the price yet higher.

snip

“If it looks like cornering, feels like cornering and the price difference between Europe and the US is so large, it probably is cornering.”

9. I know, lol
Clearly this is a man's idea, probably a divorced man if he's stupid enough to mess with the world's chocolate supply.

15. I like the cut of your jib, sir.
Actually vanilla had a price spike about 3 or 4 years ago. Bad weather or something. Luckily, I had my pre-price pods all triple wrapped in my freezer.

17. I'm actually more interested in the power play behind the buy
than the fact that there will be a price rise. I've learned to live without sweets (to a certain extent.... I mean really, I'm only human).

16. When it is something as trivial as chocolate the market manipulation becomes apparent
When they did the exact same thing to housing or technology stocks people didn't understand.

Now watch as the global price of chocolate crashes right as the hedge funds move into a short position against it.

18. Always an opportunity for a teachable moment.
Houses and technology are complicated and abstract. Chocolate is personal.

This is a good way to talk about complicated abstractions to people who need things boiled down to something understandable.

19. Will people actually learn from it this time?
Or will they just buy into the next bubble that effects them, ignoring the obvious signs of market manipulation.

21. I was talking about the "joe/jane on the street" (republican)
who thinks that the housing crisis was caused by his neighbor taking out a loan he couldn't afford. Showing them that there is a man behind the curtain who is making money off the deal regardless of who gets hurt, is an eye opener for some.

As for those "investors" chasing the next bubble. Not much you can do about addictive personalities.
