I Hope Mr. Cheney's Heart Fully-Recovers. . . I Truly Do.

My disagreements with Dick Cheney are -- and have always been -- about matters evincing his lack of ethical and moral governing principles. That said, those bloggers who are making "zombie" jokes, about the fact -- as reported in the Los Angeles Times -- that Mr. Cheney no longer has a pulse, nor blood pressure (in the conventional sense) seem to me to miss the mark. Aside from the cruelty of such remarks (and the notion that we ought to demonstrate that we are not guilty of the very same conduct we demonized, in him), I think there truly is a benefit here -- should Mr. Cheney fully-recover -- for posterity. And justice.

No matter how much I disagree with the man, I do not wish death upon him. No, I want him to live into ripe old age, so that he may read, with his own eyes, how history judges his decisions -- almost uniformly -- as abject failures, on all fronts. In short, now -- with the benefit of hindsight -- I wish that the sentence for his crimes would be that he would actually live to see how history judges him. He has repeatedly said that history will look favorably on his decisions -- I can think of no more fitting punishment, then than that he will go into Eternity knowing that history has weighed him, and found him decidedly. . . wanting.

1. False assumptions
The author assumes that Cheney and his ilk have a certain minimal level of awareness of the world outside their enormous egos. They do not.

3. Dick will not now
or ever acknowledge that his policies were a disaster. Even now, when either he or his evil spawn Liz make an appearance they do not look at their failures. Any current crisis or lack of progress as he sees it is not due to his policies but to Obama screwing them up.

If Dickwad does live to be a ripe old age and sees himself going down in history as a great failure, he won't blame himself. He'll blame the people who came after him for not following through.

Nothing is ever his fault. Nothing. And all the time in the world will not change his opinion of himself or of his policies.

10. The Dick and its offspring
are not ignorant of the fact that others suffer the ugly consequences of cheney's actions. They are, characteristically, indifferent. While I do not wish suffering or death on him, I will never regard him as anything other than a standard-bearer of unmitigated greed.

4. Concur
A death wish is a waste of a wish -- death comes soon enough for us all.

I wish he lives long enough to have one moment of insight when he realizes that his greed, lust for power and utter lack of sympathy has left him an empty husk, soulless.

5. Wishing a long life for him to see him suffer is not exactly
morally superior to making zombie vampire jokes or wishing him dead.

Paleeeeze! It's fake virtue and hypocritical.

6. I want him to live a long, healthy life
And when he finally does shuffle off this mortal coil, I want it to happen inside his jail cell.

See, happy thoughts.

The fact that he is terrified of dying gives me solace.

14. That device he has is only temporary. I bet he will get a new heart
with that terrible socialized medicine.

It is a horrible way to die and it is a very slow process. I wouldnt want anyone to go through what my dad went through even Dick Cheney.

Was the heart surgery to install a heart?

16. No it is kind of fascinating. It is LVAD- Left Ventricular assist device.
It is pumping the blood for the L ventricular. It is usually used as a temporary device while people are waiting for a heart or trying to get stronger after a heart attack so that they can get a heart. I never heard of anyone being on it for the rest of their life. You have to walk around with a battery pack and extra battery's and then plug into something at night to recharge. This is really the end of the line unless he gets a heart transplant which has its own complications and he is probably not a candidate for that because of how severe his CHF has been which could have already caused some kidney failure (you've got to have strong kidneys to handle the anti-rejection meds for a transplant). Money can buy him some time because he will get the care and the medicine that most people would not be able to afford. Someone I know was on two of these waiting for a heart transplant and his family was afraid he would run out of his insurance (I believe it was capped at 1 million) before he got strong enough to have the transplant (and found a heart). He got the transplant right before his insurance ran out and now he has to figure out how to pay for the anti-rejection meds. I believe he is in his 50's and worked hard all his life but will probably have to use his savings (retirement) to pay for the meds(that will go real fast) and won't be able to work again. Life isn't the same for the not wealthy and this guy is a lot nicer than this jerk.

12. Wonder why the press didn't go zonkers when the right wing
bloggers wrote such awful things about Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd and such. Oh I know you can flame a Democrat all you want but you should treat a republican with reverence.

I don't wish Cheney ill, and I don't wish him well. I just hope things go along for him. BUT no matter what people would say, I wish all the harm in the world to Rush Limbaugh I do not hate anybody in this whole country but him. I think he has done more to upset the balance with his constant every day spewing of violence that this country would be better off with out him. Flame me if you wish, I won't change my mind.

15. I want Cheney to go to prison and the only way the history taught to students will
ever come close to the truth is if Cheney and the rest are prosecuted. Otherwise, the history books used in elementary and secondary schools will be filled with some bullshit narrative about "policy differences." The books will say things like, "used techniques which some people claim were torture" and "there was some controversy over"...but what those books won't say is, "Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. were prosecuted for war crimes"...and that lack of prosecution gives license to pretend their crimes weren't really crimes at all.

As for the other books that will be written, that will tell the truth about the Bush/Cheney years, Cheney won't give a flying fuck what they say about him....and those books will be dismissed as attacks from the left.

19. His heart is dead, which is why he's on that pump.
He is at end stage in his heart disease and the only thing that will save him is a heart transplant. So as much as any of us wanted to see him in an orange jumpsuit or other fitting punishment, that's not his destiny.
