and she insists that it's not melting, that's just politics. "You're listening to the politics", she tells me.

And THEN she comes with, "well, if it's melting there it's increasing in other places" (the ice).

I asked her where it's increasing. She said Antarctica. :wtf:

Oddly, they're both on SS and SSI. And SUDDENLY, after 20+ or so years, Social Security is NOT so much "socialism" to them - now that THEY are depending on it themselves. It was "socialism" for years in their book, but now that THEY have to rely on it to survive, it's A-OK and they want it protected. But for OTHER people who've paid into the system for years, it's "socialism" and they still resent that part.

But that doesn't exactly jive with teabagger mentality though. It irks me that they (he, at least) doesn't walk his talk. I mean, if he wants SSI, fine, he's entitled, he's payed into it for years. I have no problem with that, nevermind that it's not likely to be there for me when or if I need it. (SS or SSI) But if he's blasting the program and others like it as "Socialism" (when *others* need it) then he oughtta send the checks back and refuse it ie: walk his talk.

No. He wants it both ways....I hate to admit I'm related to these confused and ignorant people. Jeeeze.

and quit living off the rest of us. that's what he thinks everyone else is doing it. we ALL pay into the system. whether we are on assistance or not. he is not hte only one that has paid into it. so if he really believes what he says, then he should set the example and get off his ass and quit sucking off the tit of the rest of us.

i know, who would say that. these people just piss me off. they are all like that. it's different when it's them. like when i was on assistance... or am actually on state health insurance now.... and my kids are on child health plus and medicaid. then it's different. but it's not different. and i make sure to tell my family who watch faux 'news' and spout that same crap. when you talk about 'those' people, you are talking about ME!

we all use some kind of benefit or another. like my sister who gets help for her daughter with special needs. and bought a washer and applied for that refund for appliances. and while she makes too much to get the ssi for her daughter with special needs, she plans on applying when her daughter is older. and i am glad that it is there for her, but how can you not see the hypocrisy there.

or my brother who got help buying his house. or my BIL who got help buying his house. but it's always different when it's them.

that he was mentally disabled and unable to work in order for him to get the disability money, of course.

Well. That's obvious I think. *I* coulda told them he was mental....and saved them the money. Pfft.
