"Scandals set to explode next week on Capitol Hill" - anything to this?
Via Kos:

Scandals set to explode next week on Capitol Hill

Next week, an avalanche of scandals will descend on Capitol Hill as dozens, and possibly hundreds, of government whistleblowers simultaneously deliver to Congress disclosures of government waste, fraud and abuse, including many that have never been told publicly. The mass disclosure of wrongoing is unprecendented and sure to create consternation among administration officials.

Whistleblowers are coming from all over the country to Washington, D.C., to take part in the Congressional tribunal, and other activities, both public and private. DKos readers who live in the DC area, will have a rare opportunity to support their your local whistleblowers, including DKos own Jesselyn Radack), at a book signing scheduled for Monday evening (May 14). New and familiar faces are among those participating in discussion panels to be broadcast Monday on CSPAN. The familiar faces include Jeffrey Wigand, the "Insider," and Coleen Rowley, TIME Magazine's Person of the Year.

Authors scheduled to appear at the book signing include whistleblowers Jesselyn Radack ("Canary in the Coalmine"), Mike German ("Think Like a Terrorist") Darlene Fitzgerald ("BorderGate") and Arthuretta Martin ("Speaking on Success"). Authors of books on whistleblowing also will be present, including Steve Kohn :"Concepts and Procedures in Whistleblower Law," Tom Devine (The Whistleblower's Survival Guide") and Scott Harrington ("Pharmacology and the Nursing Process," which includes a chapter on whistleblowing). Often, whistleblowers suffer economic losses from reporting official wrongdoing. Buying their books is one way citizens can express support for those who display integrity in serving the public.

The activities are part of "Whistleblower Week in Washington," (see here and here) which has the support of members of the Make It Safe Coalition, a coalition of nonprofit organizations and individual whistleblowers that are working to convince Congress to pass stronger whistleblower protections.

2. I don't know, but if it does, Truth Out will be there to report
and my husband, an avid and loyal reader of Truth Out, will read it all to me. :) (seriously, yours is THE post he looks forward to the most each day!)

I've had a feeling for some time that the Bush house of cards is teetering. The fact that 11 publicans went to the WH because they were scared of losing their seats indicates blood in the water. People are realizing that Bushco is losing its power, or are sick of what they are attempting to do, and they are lining up to tell all.

I was at the Ohio Democratic Party State Dinner last night, not a word about it....but then again, our focus was on Ohio and each other, who's going to run etc.... That said, I'll listen for some gossip.

"It's all part of a growing ongoing investigation into corruption in defense and intelligence contracts, which already has sent former Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham to prison and, legal sources say, may threaten others in Congress and the CIA. "

Attorneygate leads into the CIA/GOP/moneyspigot...a place where few Dems fear to tread, until now.

8. That story was dated May 2006. The Attorneygate scandal...
is the obvious obstruction of justice in order to prevent further investigation(s). It also goes hand-in-glove with the Election Fraud that GOP was perpetrating (note: GOP uses 'voter fraud', which was non-existent, in order to do ITS fraud. Nifty, eh ?).

9. I sense there will be more to the voter fraud issue for real.

Our new Democratic Sec. of State-Jennifer Brunner and Attorney Gen. Marc Dann are on this like flies to honey. They already outed the Ohio Repug Chairman for fraud in the Cleveland area.

10. She also said that conspiracy theorists "will be disappointed"
That, right there, said that people who think our election was stolen are not going to get the light of day shining on what we already know.

And Conyers has been quiet or low-key during investigations lately. A letter here & there to his fan club, maybe, but the teeth have been taken out of the fight. I'm afraid he was threatened.

I don't like what I'm seeing.

12. Conyers can only fight so many battles....
In thinking about his strategy, he may be backing off the voting issue with Ohio, one of his big pet peas, as it is now being cleaned up by the new Ohio Democratic Government. Maybe it's best to fight the other crimes and let the primary states clean-up the vote fraud issue for 08.

I'm just say, it's like triage.

14. Quote from Godfather Part II by Hyman Roth to Michael Corleone
Edited on Sun May-13-07 10:36 PM by EVDebs
"Hyman Roth: If I could only live to see it, to be there with you. What I wouldn't give for twenty more years! Here we are, protected, free to make our profits without Kefauver, the goddamn Justice Department and the F.B.I. ninety miles away, in partnership with a friendly government. Ninety miles! It's nothing! Just one small step, looking for a man who wants to be President of the United States, and having the cash to make it possible. Michael, we're bigger than U.S. Steel."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071562/quotes

Yes indeed, if the real life Hyman Roth, that is Meyer Lansky, would have lived, he'd be seeing the collaboration and fruition of his dream. The CIA/GOP/moneyspigot that got Danny Casolaro and Gary Webb into soooo much trouble is the 'legal' version of this 'goin' legit' stuff. Yep, they ARE bigger than US Steel:

18. That's the tune we keep hearing. And it SUCKS!
I cannot BELIEVE how transparent the media has become in its quest to dumb down the entire country. They're not even trying to hide their intentions anymore. The internet busted them a LONG time ago, and they just keep right on...

First Whistleblower Week in Washington begins Sunday
By TIM KAUFFMAN
May 11, 2007
http://federaltimes.com/index.php?S=2744160

Whistleblower advocates are pressing lawmakers to close loopholes in existing laws that they say leave federal employees vulnerable to retaliation for reporting on waste, fraud, abuse and mismanagement at their agencies.

---snip---

Among the notable whistleblowers expected to attend are former FBI special agent Coleen Rowley, tobacco industry insider Jeffrey Wigand and former Federal Aviation Administration counterterrorism leader Bogdan Dzakovic.

Bush, Cheney, and Rove all reportedly scored the fight for De La Hoya. They will be exposed and humiliated.
