Why we need to bring our troops home immediately.
This Mothers Day commentary was published in the Salt Lake Tribune today. I was livid after reading the circumstances of the execution style death of this woman's son, especially the refusal of the local Iraqi people to do anything to warn them or to help them. From the Provincial leaders down to the local street vendors, they knew ahead of time about the attack and they actually prevented anyone from intervening. Our soldiers are fighting and dying for people who don't deserve our help.

1. Hmmm
They don't deserve our "help" Hmmmm. I can't believe anyone is still calling it that. I wouldn't exactly call it help. I sure as hell wouldn't want a foreign army invading my country and "helping" me.

"But we were only trying to rid the world of that dangerous madman," the People's Republic of China Army spokesman said. "He has enough weapons of mass destruction to destroy the entire planet. We're here to HELP the American people."

Ayup, that would go over real well.

2. Poor choice of words maybe, but......
Did you read the article? The young American soldier who was executed, was involved in helping to bring an Iraqi Policeman's son to the U.S. for heart surgery. I've never agreed with this war and the reason's for being there however, the circumstances of this particular story struck me as rather barbaric. Kind of reminded me of the Viet Cong's methods of controlling the local people during the Viet Nam War. I stand by the crux of my statement......we need to get the fuck out immediately!

3. Definitely
Yeah, I read the story. And we definitely need to get out.

It's horrible what happened to him. It's horrible that he was called to active duty from the IRR. It's horrible what's happening to the Iraqi people every single day.

There is no justification for what either side is doing, but I can at least understand the anger of the people whose country has been destroyed.

The hatred on both sides is going to keep growing the longer we are there. Current events testifying to the fact.

I would bet money on the missing soldiers being taken as revenge for Abir and her family. Same town.

And before I condemn them for what they are doing, I say to myself, what if that had been my sisters and parents killed the way they were. I wouldn't say, damn, those were just some bad apples that executed my parents, raped my fourteen year old sister and execution style shot my seven year old sister. I would say, where's my fucking gun so I can go kill the bastards-- and that means anyone wearing the uniform.

And if I was serving over there, after seeing my friends killed day after day, after the way this young captain was executed, I would no longer see the Iraqi people as people, but as enemies to be killed. And that means all of them because as this story proves, you can't tell which ones are out to kill you and which ones aren't.

Downward spiral with no bottom in sight. The ONLY answer is to leave Iraq.

Or kill all of them. Because that is the only way to "pacify" a populace in an invasion. I'm pretty worried that this is our governments exact plan.

Sorry to be so long winded and for the slight misunderstanding. I just always get caught up in the whole "help" meme. It's wrong. We aren't "helping" them.

4. Point Taken......
I agree, just by our presence we are not helping but rather inflamming; not only Iraq, but the entire Middle East.
