1. Ah. Steve Forbes proposed the flat tax
No wonder why his presidency back in '96 sputtered.

2. Of course he does.
To paraphrase Ann Richards, when you're born on third base and think you hit a triple, you want to make sure you aren't caught stealing home and aren't above trying to change the rules of the game to ensure that result.

3. That's what they're all doing. Going to either force Democrats to do it their way, or
make sure the economy doesn't recover, so that GOP can take Congress. Someone here likened it as a gun to our collective heads, and they're right.

8. Steve Forbes is just another inheritor of massive wealth who thinks that because he is rich
he should be able to do whatever he wants without the filthy government, IE THE PEOPLE, having any say what so ever.

He "earned" his fortune all by himself without any help from anyone so he doesn't owe anybody anything.

Scumbag mother fucker.

14. How is that not holding any recovery hostage?.........
I know its only one guy, but I really believe this attitude is reflected across a wide array of business leaders: starve the workers until they capitulate. Is this what America is these days?

18. That's precisely what it is
Their way or the highway and the Supremes made it possible for them to finance the ReTHUGS back to power. ReTHUGS say no to everything, Chambers of Commerce attack the DEMS, corporations refuse to hire anyone, banks hold on to the taxpayers' bail outs. That's their plan. Remember they said it from day one - we want Obama to fail.

Only the American people can stop them.

15. He inherited a lot of money! He MUST be smart and be speaking for MY interests!
typical Republican talking point.

Hmm.. Maybe we should "compromise"! We keep our clean water and air regulations in exchange for no taxes!

They are SHREWD negotiators!

20. I'd love to see a place in the US set up exactly like Steve wants.
Somewhere that is currently almost uninhabited, like Death Valley, or a large open area of Montana, Wyoming etc. Let there be NO laws, no regulations, no taxes, no security, no fire departments, no mail service, no telephone lines or internet fiber optics, everybody carries a gun on their hip and settles there own problems. Knock yourself out Steve. Move to THAT place. Lets call it Forbesland. Invite all your friends who think like you do. WE in the rest of the US will be better off without all of you and you will have EXACTLY what you wanted!

23. AH, no. Keep the inheriter in urban America. We have enough problems here
Don't send him to Montana! I would have to sit his ass down and go through the numbers about taxes paid out v fed dollars received in. I do enough of that already. Am tired. Am not taking urban cast offs into our large open area of Montana. By the way, what does that mean? People drive through and think that if they don't see houses every 4 feet there are no people owning and working land? People figure if there is space between the cows, something is missing? Really, let me guide you to some places where you can get facts about what space it takes to put supper on the table.

We're too busy here. Keep the spoiled brat.

25. Well, my first suggestion WAS Death Valley. I've actually been there, and
I haven't seen any people living there. I really don't care WHERE they send him to play out his silly games. ANYWHERE that is unpopulated wil do just fine!

BTW, I wasn't picking on Mt. My only experience with Mt. was mt best friend, many years ago, moved to MT. while her husband was in the AF stationed at a base there. All she did was complain because she couldn't just go buy the things she wanted at a store. There apparently was only the PX and the Sears catalog. Maybe things have changed since then, but that's why I picked Mt for Forbes. I figured there was enough land SOMEWHERE there that he could live his isolated crazy life without bothering anyone else.

27. No need for that; such a place already exists, though not in the U.S.
That would be Somalia, the Libertarian paradise. No government, no regulations, lots of guns. Forbes could just buy Somalia.
