Teen makes series of trades, over 2 years, starts with cell phone, ends with Porsche

Glendora Teen Trades Old Cell Phone, Ends up with Porsche
The teen made a series of swaps online over a period of two years.

Steven Ortiz made a series of online trades, starting with a cell phone, and ended up with this Porsche. (Pasadena Star-News / July

He kept trading up, acquiring dirt bikes, a MacBook Pro, a 1987 Toyota 4Runner, and eventually a 1975 Ford Bronco.

The Bronco, considered a collectible, scored him the Porsche.

Ortiz says he doesn't just make a casual trade -- he does his research first, searching the web for good deals.

"I get so many people who say, `Can you trade my phone for a car?' I just say, `Yeah. It's not that easy,"' he told the Pasadena Star-News

Ortiz's father says in this economy, many people don't have the money and are more willing to trade belongings for something they need but can't necessarily afford.

6. 10 year old Porsche? More like "ends hopeless and broke."
Even the little Boxster is expensive to maintain, especially if it has miles on it. Still makes for a great story.

12. I've known several people over the years who were looking to give a way their boats>
Boats=money pit.

Unless you have endless amounts of time to maintain them yourself.
