Should we get freaked over drugs imported from India?

Claritin and its generic equivalent are made in India. And both are OTC.

1. Yes we should
And another thing, if the research is being done overseas too, then there goes the entire justification for drugs being expensive because US based research is expensive.

2. True... As if reality will stop them from making the same phony claims.

3. The tests for Claritin didn't show that it was better than the placebo...
...the NY Times Mag had an article on how this and other drugs get pushed on the market. I never bought another Claritin (couldn't tell that it did anything for me). Now a friend did tape Ophra and showed me Dr. Oz's demo of the netti pot (sea salt in warm water used as a nasal irrigant). That has been the first thing that has ever worked for my chronic sinusitis. I bought one made in the U.S.A. that was the most beautiful one at Whole Foods (and a dollar cheaper than the one Made in China (non-lead). Of course, until I buy a personal lead-detection kit I can't trust that it is non-lead.

4. I bought some last week. That's when I saw the proud 'made in India' label...

and since taking it, many of my allergy symptoms have been in remission or ended entirely. I'm feeling rather better but am worried something's in these pills that's not in the ingredients list. And chances are, it's just paranoia - but I hope it remains that way. :D

5. Claritin has, in it's way, saved my life.
I have allergies so bad they are disabling for about 2 months in the spring and again in the fall. This has been since birth and all those "allergy shot" treatments never worked very well. As I've aged the allergies have gotten worse to the point where they became year round.

When I was in the hospital after a disabling car accident I was on other allergy medication, the doctor simply said "we'll give you something different for your allergies". I was too drugged up on pain meds to even know what I was taking. All I can say is within 48 hrs I was human being again and my progress and healing went MUCH faster from that point on. When was sent to the rehab facility I found out I'd been on Claritin for a month.

I've since bought the store brand of the same medication assuming it would work equally well. It didn't for me. Say what you will about Claritin but I'm living proof it works for at least some people.

6. My dad too
He was hospitalized because he had gotten so sick. They didn't know what was wrong with him, turned out he was allergic to nearly every plant in the state he was living in, plus milk and other foods he ate almost every day. He did the shots, but Diphenhydramine and Claritin was what he lived on.

7. If I was easily freaked I could not even read DU.
It's pretty much here about being freaked, pissed, or paranoid about something. If I was so easily freaked I could not even get out of bed or function because there is so much to be potentially freaked about, where would I start?

9. Is it possible that India may have higher standards than China?
I would think if they want to continue business in the US, they may want to be sure some I's are dotted and the T's crossed. And after what is going on in China they do it doubly so. Just Thinking.
