Please Shirley Sherrod, sue Fox News and Breitbart.
What they did to you was damage beyond belief. Fox needs to be taught a huge lesson. How they demonically portrayed you as blood thirsty talking head after talking head went after you. They knew who Breitbart was. It was not the first time those two forces of no good hooked up. Please make it their last.
And when I found out that your father had been killed by the Klan, that is just way too much to handle.
The same bullies are now trying to say the White House overreacted. That may be true, but who caused that?
what crime did News Corp break? What crime did Breitbart commit? He basically just cropped a video and posted it with subtitles. That's not illegal as far as I know.
The video was on the internet first. Fox News reported on a story about "a video that's making the rounds on the internet".
Please prove me wrong though, I would love to see some people squirm over this injustice.
but I think it depends on how far out of context the clip and what you play/subtitle is. If someone says "I think the new bill requiring harsher penalties for someone that has sex with children is a great idea and things like it should be done more often." and you edit out some things so their clip reads "I think sex with children is a great idea and should be done more often.", you'll probably be sued and lose.
Since she's not a public figure (At least until Fox/Brietbart made her one) she won't have as high a standard to meet.
19. Defamation of Charatcer (aka libel or slander)
While the SCOTUS has ruled that the standard for defaming a public official is very high, I think it would be quite easy to prove actual malice and/or gross negligence in this case. Breitbart admitted to such on Hannity last night.
21. I am gonna bet that would be hard to prove that especially if as the poster said all they did
was say it was a story on the internet and they were just repeating it, maybe if there was something more like they manufactured the story in the first place or something?
14. Sherrod should have gone to Vilsack and together to Obama
with the facts and entire context.
An error was made when she resigned.
If what I now undertsand as the true statement and context and subsequent cherry-picking is true, Sherrod's chain of command to Obama should have been aggressive in correcting the situation.
I hope Sherrod acted hastily under pressure on her own rather than a signal of non-support from above.
