It's not too late to go populist and end the wars and start a New Deal jobs program and fund a Manhattan Project for alternative energy & mass transit.

President Barack Obama’s approval rating has dropped to its lowest point yet in a new Quinnipiac University poll out Wednesday.

Only 44 percent of the 2,181 registered voters surveyed said they approve of the way Obama is handling his job. Forty-eight percent disapprove of the president’s performance.

The president’s numbers are upside-down on many of the key issues on voters’ minds.

On the economy, which consistently rates as voters’ top concern, 56 percent of those surveyed disapprove of Obama’s performance, compared with 39 percent who approve.

<edit>

Thirty-seven percent of those surveyed said they intend to vote for a Republican in the next presidential election, compared with 27 percent who said they plan to vote for Obama. The rest either didn’t know or said their decision would depend on who the Republican candidate was.

12. I guess. It doesn't read gleeful. Seems pretty much a straight summary of the facts.

2. BHO is the soul of dignity, style, grace, wit, eloquence, panache, and elegance, but at the end
of the day when most of junior's agenda is largely ratified, how can the numbers be expected to be all that much better than junior's? :shrug:

9. see my edited post
and no, people were not gaga for him in the summer of 82. ironically people were pretty gaga for carter in the summer of 78 and ghwb in the summer of 90. they were both higher than reagan, clinton or obama in the summer before their first and only term mid-terms. lesson - approval rating at this point indicates very little in terms of potential for reelection.

6. During the 9am hour this morning MSNBC put up a graphic showing

that his APPROVAL was 39%, not 44%. They've since corrected that on the graphics but have not run a correction on the earlier 39% number.
