Why am I seeing the name "Shirley Sherrod" pasted all over this website lately?

Never heard of her. Should I? Did something happen? Who, again?

I've been kind of tied up paying attention to the oil spill, the two wars and the economy.

I can walk and chew gum at the same time. What I cannot do is eat an overstuffed sandwich and run the 400 yard dash at the same time.

Seems more a tabloid story to me.

for a mistake they definitely made,
and ignoring Fox News and their Friends for their deliberate willful distortion
in an attempts to ruin Ms. Sherrod's career via a mini-edited clip of a speech
(much like what was done to Sotomayor) for the sake of ginging up racial hatred,
playing up possibilities of reverse racism, and trying to sink this administration
in whatever way they can.

It's been interesting to watch us kneejerk at the Administration's and the NAACP's kneejerk,
about something planned by the RW and their media.

Of course, we will not take anykind of organized action against Fox news,
cause it is soooo much easier to cuss at the White House from computers
and shit.

The White House has apologized for the sudden and unfair firing of Ms. Sherrod,
who did nothing wrong beyond not realizing that assholes are everywhere,
and they will do whatever they can to take this President down, and whomever goes down
with him, so be it. It was timed to exactly coincide with the fact that the NAACP's
criticism of racism within the teaparty had gotten traction, and for an additional Twofer,
it obscure the recent victory the President should have enjoyed of signing financial reform,
and the passing of cloture on the unemployment legislation.

Ms. Sherrod was wronged by all sides.
The Administration made a mistake by kneejerking instead of taking its time to sort things out
the way that they have in the past (but then we have complained that they were too slow in the past in responding) after allowing itself to be set up by those who have done this before.....
and Fox news and its friends committed blatant fraud again, with no one is willing to stop them,
including us, cause we are too busy pointing the finger and pontificating about why isn't this Administration perfect, even when we already know that they are not.

All in all, a Super duper day and a half for Fox, a fantastic day and half for DU members who
don't even really need an excuse to discredit this President,
and a terrible day and half for those of us who want not only to continue on with policy progress,
but also want to keep majorities in both houses come November.

what good does it do to scream about FOX News? Will that make a difference to anyone? Do you think DU is a FOx fan? Do you think FOX reads or is influenced by what liberals think of them? Really? The WH, ONTOH, might actually be convinced to move on this subject and rectify bad behavior. They clearly have already apologized. Action was taken. Now , if the WH will only fire its PR people and replace them with some folks willing to do due diligence before they react, and who have less of a tin ear to poulist issues and civil rights, we will be in much better shape.
