Why isn't Andrew Breitbart finished as an "investigative journalist"?
Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 04:00 PM by ck4829
He'll be on Fox News in 3 weeks, with a video showing the target advocating human sacrifice and cannibalism, and then the government will act on the video. Just watch.

I hear that DU is not the mainstream, but we'll be the only people who see a video connected to Breitbart and saying "Wait a sec, you might want to hold on to that cross shaped piece of wood and those nails. That's a Breitbart video you just saw, remember?"

Crazy, huh?

1. How many times has he cried "wolf" now? I think it's three.
That's the magic number.

I think the jury is still out on these professional liars. We'll see what happens next time, if Sharrod doesn't sue their asses before then.

2. look at what passes for "journalism" and "news" these days
He easily slides under it, but the bar is pretty low. If the bar was higher, the gap between him and real journalists would be more obvious to people.

3. Not crazy at all, ck. It's the double-standard common in all nations ruled by Authoritarianism
Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 04:32 PM by tom_paine
And while we still maintain the hollowed-out shell and window-dressing of representative democracy, the fact is we live under Inverted Totalitariansim (Google it for a more detailed explanation) and it may yet morph into a more "classical" form if these trends continue unabated.

Crazy, indeed.

So many examples, where to pick one from?

The Hitler thing. For years, many people on the Left couldn't help but notice the Bush Machine's obvious similarities to the Hitler bunch. The least of which is MUCH more objectively valid than, "Hitler gave good speeches. Obama gives good speeches. Obama is just like Hitler," and the rest of the RW tripe.

And yet, such talk, in the Corporate M$M was 100% taboo and censored. Crazy talk, right?

Like so many Authoritarian double-standards, it turned on a dime. ON A DIME, it was so fast! The INSTANT Obama became President, Hitler comparisons not only instantly mainstreamed (with far less objective evidence) not just in the RW Lie Machine but in the Corporate M$M.

As with the Nazis, once the mainstream starts debating the lunacy, much like mainstream German media discussing the merits of the Nazis' views on the Jews, it legitimizes it, gives it publicity and more power.

Is it crazy? Almost objectively so. Hell, I wouldn't mind it if the Corporate M$M ignored the Hitler-Bush comparisons so long as they did the same for the Obama-Hitler comparisons.

But that won't happen. The political and media infrastructure of America has been so shredded, infiltrated, neutalized, parastized, and intimidated, that any vestige of fairness characterized by free nations is nearly impossible.

I don't know how long you've been here, ck, but I have had the profound misfortune to be onto this since 2000 in the specific and the late 80s in general.

Google the term gleichschaltung and see if it does not accurately describe the current state of Corporate M$M.

That was just one example. I am sure that you and I could literally name more than 100, but then the posts would be very long.

Exactly WHY it is happening is open to debate, and because of the opaque nature of power it probably always will be.

But the double-standard which you outline in your OP is as ironclad as if we lived in the 1970s Soviet Union.

And I don't think it's done getting worse, since, as you aptly put it, the RW Lie Machine is so insulated from reality that no lie is too great for them to suffer consequences. Even this one.

This, perhaps the most egregious and swiftly debunked RW lie yet (and that's saying A LOT), won't even slow Breitbart or his Bushie Backers down. There is simply no consequences for RW Liars lying.

It's probably a pretty sweet gig, as one minor conservative commentator once let slip (it was so long ago, about 7 years, that I could not find the link), being able to lie with 100% impunity while being able to, with a straight face, attack unmercifully any minor deviation from the truth from The Left.

Having watched it unfold for the past 10 years and acually much longer as it "ramped up", I stand constantly amazed. But it's not crazy. It's what the opposition to ANY Authoritarian group must face once theAuthoritarians pass a certain tipping point in their level of gleichschaltung practiced against the traditional organs of the country they are victimizing.

4. He needs to be sued
and whoever is slicing and dicing hatchet job videos needs to be identified and a very bright light put on the cockroach.

Likely the same scum was responsible for the ACORN hatchet video. He (or they) will continue to do this stuff until stopped.

7. Perhaps because he was never started as one?
But he's doing quite well as a hired character assassin.
