Senator McCaskill:
Yesterday, Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander and Democratic Sen. Pat Leahy attempted to move forward on a floor vote for Jane Branstetter Stranch, a nominee to the 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals. Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell objected seeking more time to consider her nomination. Her nomination has been approved out of committee on a bipartisan vote for more than 8 months! Incredibly, after all this time and the events of yesterday, Senator Reid has still not filed for cloture.
This is my 24th correspondence with you regarding this matter. I have pledged to write to you and Senator Reid each weekday until this nominee receives an up or down vote. I would appreciate your assistance and hope you will urge your colleagues to act and avoid any further damage to our system of justice.
Sincerely,
(snip)
cc: Senator Reid
