5. I remember Richard Jewell. A hero who was made out to be a villain.
He was eventually exonerated, but he was put through hell first.

I will say though, that it's not really comparable to the Shirley Sherrod case. In the case of Jewell it was an FBI leak that the press ran with, presumably because it attracted audiences. In the case of Sherrod it was an intentional and politically motivated smear job initiated by people with an agenda who most likely knew there was no truth to it.

6. My biggest memory from that was the guy who tricked CNN into letting him on the air
In an interview in which he completely BSed the interviewer. It was so funny.
