Just got a company email re: HCR...
Our policy won't change much at all, just the ability to insure children until 26 yrs. It left a big question mark as to how premiums might be affected, but overall it was good news. This new law about to go into affect might just be Obama's reelection ticket when people realize that the world isn't ending.

It is a relief to know that my daughters will have a healthcare option in the future no matter how rough a start they get.

1. Obama's reelection ticket is directly tied to the unemployment rate, IMO. nt

3. Our premiums are already going up again...
...and since it is now illegal to ditch our health insurance if it gets too expensive, we're stuck.

4. At least you have health insurance
I work freelance, have no health insurance and a newly bummed knee. No walk, no work. I'll probably have to pull up stakes and move back to OK so my tribe will pay for anything beyond basic treatment. All the while I won't have a paycheck coming in.

So I'm kind of stuck also. Just another reason I'm a tad disappointed in our current administration. Single payer was never even discussed. A watered down "public option" was defeated by Big Pharma's buddies in the Congress. Being 56 I was at least hoping for lowering the age for Medicare to 55 but it never happened. For-profit health care should be illegal here like it is in all other developed countries.

5. I thought for-profit was legal in Switzerland?
National health insurance legislation, yes, but the Swiss still have to get their insurance from a private corporation. Or maybe I heard that wrong.
