If you use chiropractic services,
your benefits are in danger of being left out of the new health plan.

When Congress passed the legislation in March, they gave Sec of HHS the authority to determine the categories of services which must be included in future health plans. The initial categories do not include "neuromusculoskeletal care" which is the core of what is treated by chiropractors. Unless neuromusculoskeletal care is added as an essential benefit category, your benefits risk being left out of national healthcare.

You can help save your access to your chiropractor by sending a letter to Sec. Sebelius. More information available at <www.ChiroBenefit.org> .

1. Wonderful....
I was recently sent a letter from my insurance carrier that Physical Therapy was now considered "Experimental Treatment."

:nuke:

I'm sorry.... I hope you can get the treatment you need. And deserve.

My kid has been getting the same treatment from PT for years and it's now that they say that it's "experimental."

3. IMO every chiropractic procedure that has been tested with a double-blind
experiment and shown to have therapeutic benefits should be approved by the Sec of HHS.

24. Such as?
Double blind is the gold standard though it can be hard to follow with some medical treatments. DMSO comes to mind

5. If they are going to cover physical therapy, then chiropractic therapy should be covered
also.

I do not support the other voo-doo stuff that chiroprators try and sell, such as homoepathic "medicine" and other types of snake oil.

8. They can be. I just think that homeopathic "treatments" should not qualify
as medical treatments (or even necessary).

9. Thanks, I've never encountered a combined chiropractic and homeopathic person. My comment #3
applies to homeopathic treatments also.

I don't object to others using either, just not with my taxes unless they meet the test cited in #3.

21. So them chemotherapy does not have your support?
Because there are no double blind against a control neutral studies ...

Keep in mind that I would agree with you IF we could close the revolving door between the FDA and insurance/pharmacy corps

10. They can be. The DC I work with offers homeopathic stuff and is uber-anti-vacc
I have tried telling him that newsmax isn't a particularly good source but hey, it backs up what he wants to believe so he keeps putting crap out for customers to read.

Funny thing. I got seasonal flu vax and hini vax last winter and I'm not dead yet though, according to his literature "you WILL die". To be fair, I will die someday.

14. I cannot disagree with this statement any more.
BTW, I am currently going through PT for my back (having gone through PT numerous other times for other injuries/surgeries). With my PT a report is generated and sent to my neurosurgeon or orthopedic every three weeks for objective analysis; when I went to a chiro there was no oversight at all by an MD of any kind and the "Dr." nearly ruined my spine within two short visits.

I am looking at a possible 4-5 level back surgery (already had a 3-level neck surgery in 2004) and I would never, ever let a chiro anywhere NEAR my spine.

    20. Every good Huxley quote deserves another
"A democracy which makes or even effectively prepares for modern, scientific war must necessarily cease to be democratic. No country can be really well prepared for modern war unless it is governed by a tyrant, at the head of a highly trained and perfectly obedient bureaucracy."
    Aldous Huxley
