the aim was the same. Will we have a US Senator with the guts to read this stuff into the record?

4. That comparison is about the first thing I thought of.
Let's hope its effects are equally profound in getting us out of a war.

5. If you listened to todays press conf.
there was a question about that in fact. Gibbs made a good point as to the differences. The Pentagon papers were about policy, not raw intelligence from the ground.

I've brought it up as has a few others. Of course, I doubt MSM will catch up.

11. The Pentagon Papers covered an active war across administrations.
Yes, it is accurate. Unfortunately.

12. I think the parallels are working out pretty exactly
We have the administration pooh-poohing the documents as nothing new. We have many in the popular media cowering in fear the Big Daddy Government will get mad and send them to bed without a nightcap. We have a few folks giving as honest an analysis as they can. We have still others bitching about Wikileaks and grandstanding. We have a few nodding knowingly, as if they knew this all along, but oddly didn't have what it takes to say anything beforehand. And we have a few conflating the release of these documents with hating America and the troops.

Every last one of these things I remember happening at the time the Pentagon Papers came out.

13. I remember the pentagon Papers.
I heard Daniel Ellsberg speak on the college circuit in the fall of 1972, when the FBI was looking for him.

I truly admire the man.
