1. Ellsberg on
Can't agree with him. Trashing the administration. Direct comparisons between Nam and Afghanistan are more fantasy than reality. Sure there are some things that are similar, but the cause of the war, the fact there is support from allies, and the level of the conflict itself in terms of casualties are quite different.

7. Same thing he said earlier today
on MSNBC really.

He doesn't think the leaker (Pvt Manning) handled his objections to the war the proper way. Enlisted need to follow orders or take the standard path available to leave the service. Opposition intelligence could learn something from the material.
Perhaps this event can be a catalyst for broadening support, putting more pressure on Pakistan to hold up there end.

(I didn't try to type exactly the way he said it, just captured the theme best I could.)

12. I'm suspicious as to who they wanted to keep this info from, the terrorists or the citizens.

13. Why?
The information demonstrates that the US and allies have been straight up-front about the war if anything (from accounts I have read). I think the concerns about its release may be as much about what we don't know about the opposition and how we go about gathering information. This war (counter-insurgency) is all about intelligence/public perception-co-operation/and targeted military actions.

15. What is coming out is a lot more detail than I remember hearing and the double crossing is worse

Nation building is a waste of time and money. We need to get out of the business.

We know the administration has an agenda that they don't want to take on the right on war. I don't trust them to come clean on this as it us not in their political interests.
