AFL-CIO Says Congress Isn’t Hearing Workers On The Need For Jobs Creation, Workers Need To Raise Their Voices

AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka says not nearly enough is being done to create the millions of jobs America’s workers still need. He says Republicans in Congress are blocking every jobs bill and Congress isn’t doing enough to help create jobs.

: “I don’t think they’re hearin’ us. I think they’re listenin’ to Wall Street and I think they’re listening to he lobbyists for corporate America. I think it’s time that we raised our voices just a little bit and make sure they hear us.”

The AFL-CIO is fighting a “firewall” campaign in an effort to help working family friendly candidates hold onto their seats in Congress. But AFL-CIO Political Director Karen Ackerman says it’s “an absolute political reality” that Democrats could lose the House in November. Trumka is urging workers across America to get active in telling Congress to do more on the jobs crisis. And the AFL-CIO wants to see workers act to support candidates that support workers while opposing those who don’t.

1. Even Republicans I talk to agree that we need public works projects
to boost the job market. We disagree on how they should be run (public/private), but it's painfully obvious to everyone how badly we need jobs.

To go off.

3. The Obama administration is anti-union and anti-labor - it's that simple.
Recall the elections of Lincoln and Sestak - we were on opposite sides and the administration is letting us know how little we matter to them.
