Damn it, this pisses me off.
(this is in reference regarding a story about how Americans aren't saving, that was posted in another thread)

what of the people who had a home, lost their jobs, did the best they could to pay off what they still could on a house that was slowly killing them?

They were trying to do the right thing, yet the system screwed them over by laying them off and sending their jobs over seas.

How does one save then?

Yeah, it's all about our "crazy lifestyles" as Americans.

We hear and see the morons that bought to much house or spend like there is no tomorrow, but for the mass majority of Americans out there, we hold the line, we scrimp, save and live within our means, YET we still get screwed.

The moronic poster jerk for financial irresponcibility is the easy target as the guy who spent to much, but what of wall street? what of the ceo's? what of the corporations that think nothing of their employees and only of the bottom line. What of them?

It so reminds me of what stalin once said, "if a person kills someone; it's murder. If a thousand people are killed; it's a statistic".

So a few citizens that screwed up are paraded out and metaphorically stoned as the 2 minute hate du jour. However, we get ceo's that skate away with golden parachutes, corporations that get slaps on the wrist for stealing our tax money, YET AGIAN, we all do is just shake our head in wonder as to why nothing is done.

Fuck this close-minded stupidity. I will side with the moronic over spender any day than with those life sucking faceless pricks on wallstreet any goddamn day of the week.

Who the fuck are we fighting for, as Democrats, anyway????

Damn it to hell.

1. Amen. I've posted similar sentiments here.
And I'm sick of the sanctimonious pricks here on DU who use the financial hardships of others to gloat about their own superior investing and saving ability. Plus, those over-spenders are who were keeping the economy afloat the past 10 years. Consumer spending is 70% of our GDP.

6. Yep, the I've got mine screw you mentality. I've seen tables turned on people
like this before and they scream bloody murder and suddenly support and grasp for any helping hand they can find.

3. One the of real paradoxes today are those that side with
disingenuous politicians and the like. So many Americans are so damn ignorant and gullible. They often vote for those with the most diametrical agendas to their needs, because they fall for their bullshit and propaganda, and hot button issues like abortion, gay rights, religion, all the divisive manipulations used, but so many Americans are too damn dense to see through it all.

5. We managed to save about a year's worth of salary and then my husband got sick
and couldn't work any longer. Took about six mos. for his SSDI to be approved and so there went six mos. of savings.

The rest of our savings is now supplementing his SSDI.

And when Obama and his merry band of SS privatizers guts SS, we'll probably end up out on the streets.

Gotta love that 'CHANGE'! :puke:

7. Unfortunately, I am fighting to stay afloat. The repugs/power mongers
have us right where they planned to have us for decades....struggling to keep afloat, accepting any tidbit that comes our way.....too weary to put up a fight.....too afraid to rock the boat.

8. It's the new 'welfare queen' meme and it's disgusting
especially considering what side of the political aisle it's coming from.
