Obama committed to staying in Afghanistan: "We have to see that strategy through!"
President Barack Obama spoke publicly about the WikiLeaks incident for the first time today, expressing concern about the disclosure of tens of thousands of documents, but at the same time, downplaying the content.

“While I'm concerned about the disclosure of sensitive information from the battlefield that could potentially jeopardize individuals or operations, the fact is, these documents don't reveal any issues that haven't already informed our public debate on Afghanistan. Indeed, they point to the same challenges that led me to conduct an extensive review of our policy last fall,” Mr. Obama said.

The President reminded reporters in the Rose Garden that that policy review led to a substantial increase in troops and a strategy that he believes can lead to victory.

“Now we have to see that strategy through. And as I told the leaders, I hope the House will act today to join the Senate, which voted unanimously in favor of this funding, to ensure that our troops have the resources they need and that we're able to do what's necessary for our national security,” the President said.

required for presidential and congressional service. Then maybe these flabby assed suckers wouldn't love it so much. This is the dead chicken that will hang around the neck of his legacy forever.

14. See it through... to what?
Only way to deny it to al Qaeda is to nuke it flat and cover it with land mines, or to build it into a flourishing democracy - which will take decades if it can be done at all.

WTF!

I will certainly not vote for war-enablers. My POS Dem Representative also voted for more war, and I had already decided not to vote for him in Nov.

Send all those who voted for war to the war for 6 months, see it first-hand, up close...

33. I disagree with staying in Afghanistan.. but, unlike others, I paid attention to what he said in '08

I disagree with the President on his Afghanistan policy... but I can't argue that he betrayed me or broke a promise.

He told us all that he was going to escalate things in Afghanistan if elected President.

If nothing else, this President tends to do what he said he would.

I can't throw the baby out with the bathwater here. He's wrong on this issue. But we knew where he stood when we voted him in.

34. Please give a quote as to what he really said. I think he said that in the context that he wanted
to win. Regardless of what he said, winning is ridiculous. Winning is a Republican goal. Winning is not possible. Attempting to win may kill what is left of this country.

Regardless of what he promised or said, WE HAVE TO GET THE FUCK OUT. We have people hungry in our country and we are spending billions on a war. The priorities are WRONG.

36. His recent definition of "winning" is so limited
that it could be used to justify getting out at any time. I see that as a positive sign. We have to keep up the pressure.

All I hoped for with Obama on Afghanistan is a President who would get out sooner than Bush and who might respond to a strong movement against the war. I think that's what we got.

29. WHAT strategy?
What exactly IS the "strategy" there, or the "Mission"?

Can anybody explain this, and do so without repeating the fucking LIES that Chimpy used as an excuse to invade in the first place (i.e. that supposed army of terraists that his own fucking father created, supposedly led by a friend of the Bush Crime Family who died in 2002)

The Karzai brothers are nothing more than curtain wearing clones of Jeb & Chimpy. They not deserve a single American dollar or American life, nor a second of any American's time. Fuck those corrupt election stealing smack peddling fuckwits.
