Racist billionaire teabagger says Global Warming is good because it will mean more land for farming
Proof positive there's no correlation between brains and net worth. :dunce:

from Grist:

In a recently published New York Magazine profile, pollution billionaire David Koch lies about his support for tea-party radicalism, cracks racist jokes, and denies the threat of global warming.

One of the wealthiest men in the world, Koch has used his billions for decades to promote the extremist, anti-regulatory, right-wing political groups like Americans for Prosperity that now organize under the Tea Party banner. “I’ve never been to a tea-party event,” Koch told reporter Andrew Goldman, even though he hosted AFP’s “Defending the American Dream” tea-party hoopla in Washington, D.C., last year.

Fueled by his fear that the greenhouse gas pollution generated by Koch Industries might be limited by government regulation, Koch promotes a fantasy about benefits of a changing climate:

Koch says he’s not sure if global warming is caused by human activities, and at any rate, he sees the heating up of the planet as good news. Lengthened growing seasons in the northern hemisphere, he says, will make up for any trauma caused by the slow migration of people away from disappearing coastlines. “The Earth will be able to support enormously more people because a far greater land area will be available to produce food,” he says.

Unfortunately, Koch’s pollution really is heating the planet, and the consequences are grave. With less than 1.8 degrees F of average warming, heat waves, extreme storms, droughts, sea levels, ocean acidity, wildfires, and flooding are already on the rise. In the unregulated world of global warming pollution envisioned by Koch, the planet’s average temperature will increase five to ten times more than existing warming, with a significant chance of a runaway greenhouse effect. ..........(more)

11. Fools with unlimited funds...
and as we have seen if you can "catapult the propaganda" you can convince enough people to vote against their own interests because they have been totally befuddled.

3. Where's the "new" land?
The Midwest will lose its farms to permanent dustbowls and the land at the Arctic will not replace it.

5. It'll also mean more arid land and disease causing/crop eating pests
Didn't think your plan all the way through, now did ya, Davey?

6. Well if they get rid of the EPA then farmers can go back to using DDT to kill the
pests.

7. And even though they are already resistant to DDT, this will be advocated
"The DDT is doing nothing!"

"Obviously, you're not spraying enough. We all know that evolution is a lie. Keep spraying it, or are you some kind of environmentalist nut?!"

8. Yep I remember that being done a few times after the pest evolved so they chemicals used on
them were no longer harmful to the pests yet the nit wits refused to stop using it, was the same with herbicides, weeds evolved chemicals stopped working framers decided that more was needed to the point where the ground could hold no more chemicals and it started running off every time it rained.

15. And don't forget the screwed up weather patterns.
When you farm you're at the mercy of nature.

So warmer weather may help the crops (certain crops, anyway) grow faster, but three weeks of solid rain, followed by a two month drought, followed by another two weeks of rain sure isn't going to do them any favors. There's also the problem that most crops can burn if they get too much sun or too direct sun, can become harder to pollinate if it's too hot, and blights are more common when it's hotter.

Kind of obvious the man has never grown so much as a blade of grass.

13. From what I hear, having a warmer taiga and tundra will be no help at all for food production
because they have thin soil, much of their original topsoil having been scraped off and brought south by glaciers.

Is this the same Koch who is married to George W. Bush's sister?

14. Don't know, but it's the one that R. Maddow rales against a lot...
He was actually on her program one time and she did her best to shoot him down. Her biggest complaint about the guy (and like right wingers) is that they fund and support the so-called "grass roots" movements such as the tea party, but will not divulge to anyone who they support, or that they support them at all (though they obviously do). Super devious and underhanded scum is what he is and Rachel knows it.
