It was certainly a righteous rant and spanking. But I doubt he would do worse.

8. Just a plain no. I like him about 90% of the time. But I didn't care for
the way he savaged Helen Thomas when she was set up by the videographer.

9. The first time he goes off on a Rant, it will be the Dean Scream all over again...
The media prefers Democrats cool, calm and collected.

Anthony Weiner was born on September 4, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York. So meets the qualificitions set down in the constitution.

12. the "scream" wasn't about an issue
it was just him getting worked up at a rally

being passionate about an issue that is killing Americans is different

13. Exactly. And that passion was used against him by the media to...
destroy his campaign.

If Weiner goes off on a Rant, it will be made an issue by the media. Other than that, I think he is qualified and would make a good candidate in 2016

or angry.

The image will be replayed, talking heads will say, "he's out of control" or "has anger management problems."

If he becomes a candidate, I suspect he will keep a tight rein on his emotions so he can not be derailed by a Dean Scream.

20. If he looses control he will be eviscerated.
From everything I know about him, he is a smart man who understand when to get angry and when it will derail what he feels he needs to do.

If he gives people a chance, it will be used to crucify him.

23. My point was that Dean didn't lose control, his "scream" was manipulated.
I wasn't saying anything about Weiner, I was countering the Dean "scream" fallacy.

That is all.

24. Yeah, floor theatrics is a great measure of a potential Presidential candidate
The minute Weiner exposed his extreme soft spot for Israel he'd be cast aside.

Today he voted to end the offshore drilling moratorium.

30. and of course his comments about Helen Thomas
the thing is that these are all things we know now . but some who claim to want him for pres will be the same ones attacking him for the things we know now later on if he were to become a national candidate.

27. No. He's better exactly where he is.
Political figures elected on a national level need to be a little more conciliatory than him (though the Democrats still could bear to be more aggressive than the current pattern.)

New liberal fans: Meet Anthony Weiner, ultra-hawkish backer of Israel
The prominent New York Democrat's far-right Zionism might surprise some of his new liberal fans

Will the liberals who only know Weiner from his feisty MSNBC appearances and his staunch support of the president's domestic initiatives be put off when they hear him taking the "Israel can do no wrong" side in the debate over Israel's botched raid, in international waters, of a humanitarian aid flotilla?

Weiner's statement is comical. "Even if we are the only country on earth that sees the facts here," Weiner says, "the United States should stand up for Israel." That's the statement of a man with whom there can be no reasoning.

And it's not, by any means, outside the norm for Weiner. He's precisely the sort of liberal establishment politician that Peter Beinart accused of failing young American Jews in the New York Review of Books recently. In the past, Weiner has matter-of-factly accused Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International of being anti-Semitic. And not just them!
