Worst flooding in Pakistan in living memory -800 dead so far
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-10826105
<snip>
The worst monsoon floods in living memory have killed at least 800 people and affected one million in north-west Pakistan, a local official has said.

Rescuers are struggling to reach inundated areas where transport and communication are down.

Peshawar, the area's largest city with a 3m-strong population, is cut off.

At least 60 people have died across the border in Afghanistan where floods affected four provinces.

Manuel Bessler, the head of the UN's Office for the Coordination for Humanitarian Assistance (UNOCHA) in Pakistan, told the BBC about 1m people's lives had been disrupted.

1. I saw this this a.m. I also
wondered when the m$m deemed it a crisis; how many dead Pakistanis did it take before they considered it a story?

Till today, I didn't even know it was raining there.

Devastating.

2. Remember the plane crash earlier this week that killed over 150 people
(including two Americans) took place in horrible weather. This has been going on for days. BBC has been carrying this for a while.

take stock of their living conditions in regard to flooding.

weather it has ever flooded there before doesn't matter.

there are maps available that gives the terrain stats.

if and when your area gets record breaking rain you want to be prepared.

or not.
