I-75/Riverside work to begin this week, expected to take 3 years
Source: Macon.com

Work is expected to begin this week on the $54.5 million overhaul of Interstate 75 from Pierce Avenue to Arkwright Road.

The project — the second-most-expensive transportation venture planned in Georgia this year — includes reconstructing and widening the stretch of interstate from four to six lanes, rebuilding and widening four bridges and overpasses, and replacing the troublesome southbound entrance and exit ramps near Pierce Avenue.

----SNIP-----

The I-75 Pierce to Arkwright work will be funded through the federal stimulus program.

I posted this not so much to alert people to road construction in my state but to show the lack of respect the Stimulus Plan gets in RED Georgia...One freakin sentence! Nothing about how many jobs this will save or create! The press as usual focuses on the NIMBY complaints rather than the positive part of job creation...I wonder how many out of work Tea Baggers will go back to work due to this project but will still vote Republican? My guess is most! SAD! Oh well?

3. You are welcome...
It just makes me mad that the press, you know the so-called LIBERAL MEDIA the Right is always warning America about, refuses to ive credit were credit is due! Instead they cover the bitching & moaning that comes with every public works project.

4. every dollar spent on highways is a dollar wasted
it looks good to our auto-dependent society, but it is ultimately futile. we need trolleys, we need BRT, we need light rail, we need restored inter-city passenger rail.

personal automobile transportation will not survive the next century, no matter how hard we wish Tinkerbell lives.

5. I-75 in GA has been one long construction zone for nearly a decade
It is by far the worst stretch of I-75, in my opinion, and this construction project, while it will put people to work, will only make a bad thing worse.

It would be nice if GA could finish one endless project before starting another.

6. You should see I-75 in Ohio...
It has been nothing but a headache during traffic hour for a while here in Cincinnati. Only recently has the construction moved north of here towards Dayton.

7. Sherman burnt down Georgia in the 1860's
and they've been building it back ever since. From north of Valdosta to south of macon has been under construction for years.
