Help me with these questions about same sex marriage(from my wing-nut sister)

When my Sis and I discuss politics we agree on only one thing. Fred Phelps sucks! besides that we are night and day. Help me explain this to her in an informative way.
I figure educating is better than the way that I really want to respond to her.Besides others will read it too and you never know who it may inform.

is curious...if California permits gay/lesbian/trans-gender to marry...what is the license going to look like? How do they address the multiple roles? Do they change it to read spouse 1 and spouse 2 to encompass all relationships? and if so, who gets top billing? Just curious...
