"It's time to have an adult conversation about spending."
The "new" Republican soundbite uttered this morning by Orangina and Pence.

1. So Republicans are finally going to get tough on war profiteering?
Glad to hear it.

There is so much waste in the military budget, especially as so many services have been privatized.

Sadly :sarcasm:

2. here's the problem. the republicans spend. they spend like sailors with someone else's money.
the difference between the dems and republicans is that the republicans will spend to give to the rich folks and themselves. there are dems who do that too, but predominantly the republicans want to shift the burden of paying for everything onto us and off of rich folks. they still spend, they just don't pay for it. they pass the bill on to us. they borrow the money figuring by the time we notice, they'll be long gone. because they aren't interested in helping you or i. they get paid while they are there, and they are planning their getaway with benefits from us and new cushie jobs working for the companies they just handed tax cuts and more to.

it's no coincidence that when the republicans are in charge the deficit goes UP. spending goes UP. and they charge up the credit card and trash the room and then duck out on the bill leaving us to take the fall for it.

11. It's "tax and spend" vs. "borrow and spend"
which is more responsible? Jr. spent like a drunken sailor with no clue about how to pay the bar tab.

12. but who said word one about the deficit? no one seemed to care.
NOW they care apparently. and then he also cooked the books what with keepig the cost of the war off the budget. then when obama corrected it, oh look at how he already increased the deficit. and people wonder why we need friggin independent media, not all owned by for or five big multi conglomerates.

5. Are they grown up enough to have an adult conversation about military spending?
Nah, I didn't think so, either.

6. Yeah, let's start with ten years of off budget wars based on lies. How are we paying for
Columbia, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Somalia, and Iran, the Stans, etc.

That would be refreshingly adult, but I'm not holding my breath.

Fortunatly, Social Security and Medicare are all pay as we go programs and we already paid.

Just because somebody stole it for those wars isn't our fault. We already paid.

Any responsible adult would conclude it's time to slash the war budget. Big time.

7. I say we take them up on it
The list of spending topics might be a bit more expansive than they counted on. Be sure to capture the moment when they realize that the corporate giveaways and military contracts they have been pimping out their entire political careers are on the top of the conversation's agenda.
