Arab American Institute president: Republicans exploiting fears of Muslims
By Shane D'Aprile - 08/07/10 05:08 PM ET

The president of the Arab American Institute says "anti-Middle East rhetoric" has gripped the right and he accused the Republican party of "exploiting fears of Muslims and exacerbating tensions" in an effort to score political points.

In an op-ed published in an Abu Dhabi newspaper, AAI President James Zogby took Republicans to task for what he called harsh and damaging rhetoric coming from many of the party's leaders.

This Republican drift and the harshness of its anti-Arab and anti-Muslim rhetoric is worrisome. America’s engagement across the Middle East and South Asia is too important and the dangers too great for such virulence and misunderstanding to have taken hold in one of our political parties, especially when the GOP’s leaders appear so willing to vent their venom and use it for political advantage.

Even George W Bush, for all his flaws, knew better, as did his two secretaries of state, his father and many other Republican leaders of the not-too-distant past. It’s high time for these traditional conservatives to come forward and challenge the current GOP crop who are running their party, and I fear, their country, into a deep hole.

anyone might possibly have.

If there were a way to exploit fears of aliens from outer space, they would do that as well.

Fear, manipulation of the ignorant, and their comrade in arms...scapegoating are the repukes biggest and sadly, most effective weapons.

5. Republicans benefit from using fear
to cause infighting amongst people. I really think they want everyone to be fighting amongst each other over the fewer and fewer crumbs they leave us, all the while not noticing how they are robbing us. It is a smokescreen for their crimes, and it is so sad to see how easily people fall for their crap. So sad.

The anti Islamic rhetoric banks on the emotional trauma of 911, it is the only politically correct and allowable response, so all of the collective national grief is channeled into one direction. It is a national psychosis, and a seriously demented state of denial the whole world can see.

6. Repukes exploit the fear of any group that could be seen an issue. But they especially
like to make shit up about african americans.... they often don't even bother to attach their aa attackes with any actual policy.

Certainly some religions use FEAR to control their masses, as they use fear to try and recruit others. Good example,

The other day I was getting on an elevator and this man who was standing there said to me, "Are you going to heaven?"

My immediate response was;

"No, I am going to the third floor..(and I promptly pushed the button myself, even though he was near enough he could have done it for me.)

So he asked me again..

"No, I mean are you going to Heaven?"

When I understood what he was asking me, I merely stated,

"If this is a discussion about Religion, this is the poor place to have it, and frankly I am not interested."

SO his reply was;

"So you are going to Hell?"

I stated;

"I don't believe in your hell, I am Buddhist."

You could see his eyes roll in his head..and he said;

"Its not to late to change, I can save you.. You won't go to heaven if you don't change!"

I said;

"I don't need saving thank you, I am not in dire help, except for this conversation."

Thankfully the door to my floor opened ..and he yelled at me..

"You are going to Hell you know!" to which I replied...

"Then I guess we can finish that converstation there... " as the doors closed on his sily face.

Republicans use fear to manipulate people into putting them in power. Its no different then what this guy in the elevator was trying to do to me.
