Pumapunku....Amazing!
Was just re-watching this and it still amazes me how this was done. If you watch this whole eight and half minute video clip you'll see the incredible precession this hard stone was cut. If you're familiar at all with machining this just blows you away.

The section of video at 4:45 which shows very narrow groves with evenly spaced very small precession holes is some of the most impressive work I see in this clip. However, if you pay attention to how precise all this stone in this video is cut its just amazing even though some of it was done on diorite where the only minerals I am aware of that can cut diorite would be corundum, silicon carbide or diamond.

1. Fascinating stuff for sure.
I've done my share of machining on some very hard materials such as ceramics
where the only tools that could do the job were diamond tipped and water cooled.
The other thing is, you need accurate datum points to start with and handling stuff
that size and weight isn't easy.

Not sure about the alien thing the show tries to point to. But I have no alternative
thesis to share.

6. Yeah, I am not too sure about the extra terrestrial theory either.
Nevertheless, very interesting stuff when you look closely at some of this work and think of how many thousands of years old this place is.

Peace,
Xicano

3. oh hell yeah. central and south america are fascinating. god, i wish i had a time machine.
i love that Pumapunku is such a red-headed step child of archeology. it's not impressive until you look closer and start thinking about how they did it.

5. Thanks tridim
Thanks for the link. Also, I don't remember where I read it, but, there's evidence that this site is much older than 12,000 yrs which itself is very old.

Very interesting this place is...
