3. Stevens killed in crash near Dillingham
http://www.ktuu.com/Global/story.asp?S=12952729

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Dave Dittman, a former aide and longtime family friend of former Sen. Ted Stevens says Stevens was killed in a plane crash near Dillingham Monday night. Nine people were on board, including former NASA Chief Sean O'Keefe. Five people were killed in the crash, but other identities were not known, nor are the conditions of the survivors.

Late through the night rescue crews were battling bad weather conditions to reach the scene, where Good Samaritan personnel had already made it, said Air National Guard spokesman Maj. Guy Hayes.

A military C-130 and a Pave Hawk helicopter were waiting in Dillingham for the weather to break and reached the site just after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Air Guard received the call about the crash 17 miles north of Dillingham at about 7:00 PM Monday night.

I only regret he didn't meet his end at the hands of justice, rather than the hand of fate.

38. His family can go F themselves
Ted Stevens was the epitome of the corrupt, sleaze-and-graft driven politician. It is in no small part because of Stevens that things are as fucked up as they are today.

If his family had turned him in for his many felonies, they'd get my sympathy. Clearly they preferred to profit from it, and thus I hope their miseries multiply.

Look up his background, and see if you can bring yourself to tell me again that "good riddance!" is not only perfectly justified but the correct reaction that any decent person should have to his passing.

21. My condolences...
Strangely, this was Ted's second plane crash. He survived his first, but lost his wife in that crash. I am no fan of his politics but as the longest serving republican and seventh longest serving member of congress, I can respect his service to our country. I can also pay respects to his current wife and all of his children and grandchildren.

I don't need to bash Ted Stevens to fight the republican tea party agenda for America.

RIP Ted.

35. Sorry to hear
I don't know much about the guy other than he was a former Republican US Senator and had some corruption issues but, all the same, I don't mind offering condolences about a Republican (other than maybe the Cheney family- when the Dick finally crawls off of this mortal coil).

Has Sarah Palin commented yet (or been asked for a comment) about this yet? You just know that she will be on some news program about this at some point. :eyes:
