7. Maybe I misunderstand you, but are you suggesting that the "bully pulpit"
is responsible for moving Congress?

Damn, if I had only known I would have called my critters EVERY day as opposed to every other day. Whodathunk we had more power to sway Congress than the head of our party, our President?

Please clarify in case I misread - and if so, my apologies in advance.

Anything else is pandering to the right.

3. No. That gives Obama an out.
Staying on will require the President to take some definitive action. Or not.

Lack of action, or bland action, will still be definitive.

4. Buhwawawawawa! I'm just laughing. No, he shouldn't resign.
He just let slip what is really being discussed in the WH.

You should not be shocked.

IF you are then you haven't been paying attention.

Mostly i think most people who are angry just feel they got hoodwinked. But I hate to say I told you so.... so I won't.

but I don't think this is an incident that warrants a resignation.

8. If I thought the comment didn't reflect Obama's perspective...
I'd say yes.

I'm not convinced of the former, hence calling for the latter would be a wee bit absurd. ;)

to hear them tearing down Pres. Obama. I agree with Gibbs 100%. If we can't stand behind the best president in decades we are fucked.

12. Gibbs won't offer, and Obama won't ask for it.
He said exactly what he meant, and it seems pretty clear that he was also reflecting Obama's basic stance too.

32. And those on DU who'd like him to resign are ALL about "Party Unity"
Yep. They're always here every day talking about how we need to band together and make sure we keep the Repubs out of power. They wouldn't talk about staying home on election day or how they've done their bit and are now waiting for the President to do something for them or pitting a primary challenger against him. Never!

18. No. If the boss is unhappy, the boss will deal with it. Any president can have the staff he wants
Any president can fire staff that is unhelpful or out of step.

Action will talk. Bullshit should walk.

20. He just needs to clarify his statement.
I still don't know what he means by "professional left" so I have no idea who he was trying to offend, though I'm sure he was trying to offend someone and that's not really in the Press Scty job description so maybe he should say something about that, too.

24. Although he's not very good at his job because he stammers
through most of the press conferences and I can't watch him, I don't think he should resign over this incident. I'm positive though that someone else could do a much better job. AND, I wish he would come out in the next meeting and say something just as bad about the extreme right-wing since they are the ones who REALLY need drug-testing.

29. Gibbs displayed his own frustration at
lots of things being said from the left. Look at Carville's daggers at Obama over the oil spill...look at so many of us that just because Obama didn't do what we wanted him to do. Rather than applaud the fact he has gotten any thing done, we diss him for not doing more.

There is no appreciation for his doing anything positive - everything is a disappointment...and he is equated with Bush - WTF is that about?!? If anyone on the left thinks Obama has failed us so therefore we should just abandon all hope, well you deserve what you get. As for me, I may not agree with everything, but I'm not giving up the fight!

I'm just as frustrated with the naysayers as Gibbs...come on folks, let's get real!

(off the soapbox & I hope I didn't offend anyone, but there ya go...)
