There will be some closed loopholes on the wealthy's taxes.

Food stamps will be cut.

The DoD remains untouched. Not cutback on war money.

They cut food stamps?

Are you kidding me?

Food stamps?

Nice.

Real smooth. Way to pander to repubicans.

I sweartagawd . . . . . nothing surprises me.

26. Food stamps will not be cut
If the money is needed it will be restored.

This is one of those scams where they say they're cutting something three years from now which will never be cut.

The savings in medicare reimbursements to doctors has been saving the budget billions every year excepot that every year they restore the money calling it the doctor fix.

Meanwhile the money was long spent that the doctor cut was offsetting.

It's just a way for congress to say something is paid for when it's not.

2. But didn't you hear? Some on DU have adopted the Reagan playbook: "Scammers"
is one of the new words for people needing food aid...

3. Obey wanted them to get the funds from Arne's RTTT Billions.
Obama threatened to veto anything that cut the incentives for privatization and union-busting.

So...food stamps?

The priorities are pretty damned clear.

4. Heres the thing.
You hear contradictory stories in the media, figure it is noise to gauge things mostly.

But the point is you have to support ideas, since people say they support things sometimes and don't.

5. The bill comes on the expectation that the 2012 budget
for food stamps will not need to be as high as the 2010 budget fr food stamps and therefore applies the savings to the current expenditure. Seems a reasonable assumption when considering long term costs.

11. Can you make that case? Really? Can you?
New jobs will lift up the poor?

Greater social services money will help them?

Falling food prices will make their meager crumbs go farther?

I know ...... let's revise downward the government standards from a healthy diet and daily caloric intake. That'll do it, sure, huh?

21. What indication do you have that there will be substantially
less need in two years? Fucking jack apple shit is what you got, is what.

That and the program honestly needs more resources. The food banks are overwhelmed and many thousands each week are without any money at all as their unemployment runs out.

Can they go any lower? Creating a situation that is lose/lose when it simply is not necessary.

8. I knew this was coming, but it's still really disappointing
And, for people like myself who actually receive food stamps, it's scary.

I'm glad an effort was made to save teacher jobs. I'm not unwilling to sacrifice to make that happen. I just want to know why the poor are the only ones making a sacrifice in this case. Because I'm pretty sure the people on food stamps are going to suffer from those cuts a lot more than the wealthy who lose a few tax loopholes.

9. One sixth of the country is on food stamps right now.
One-sixth. Fifty million people.

It will be interesting to explain to hungry families why it was so important to cut the food stamp program right now.

17. I also would like the Senators and Congressmen live on beans and rice for
a month and see how they like it. They need to give up their steaks and fancy foods and join those who live on almost nothing. Sure they will! Oh not a month, I can do that but month after month? How about a year.
