Reality or Hysteria?
Which of the following of today's news bit is most significant in what progressive folks want,
and will have a tangible real effect on this nation?

The White House indicating that Elizabeth Warren is to be nominated next week to head Consumer Financial Protection Agency?

or

What Gibbs meant when he said about the Professional left constantly criticizing how Obama is like Bush?

Because the difference between the two is mind boggling; one topic is all over everywhere,
while the other news is not getting any play, although it is what Progressives have been
demanding (and I mean demanding) for days.

See, I have a problem in what some believe is most "important" at the end of the day.

I tend to deal with idiots when they kick the left in the teeth and today Gibbs kicked the left in the teeth.

Carry on.

Simple, because many of us won't believe it until we see it.

The White House also said it wouldn't sign a bill without a public option. And on, and on. And when push came to shove: Not so much.

And do you understand why what Gibbs said might actually cost the WH a few votes in November?

No you can't...

Jesus age... if she gets to head it, great... but can you multi task?

By the way I find what Gibbs said actually not just funny, but indicative of perhaps a change in the DC environment and not necessarily in a GOOD WAY.

Going after the base is not exactly bright.

As for those who equate Obama to Bush, they didn't vote and will not vote for Obama in 2012.
If they don't want to vote for the representatives, then fine...but then, after that, they won't
have shit else to say...cause then, they become part of the problem.

Thin skinned folks who have decried this administration from day one are now all in arms (some more)...

68. More than a few voted for him in 2008
but feel free to denigrate the base, or rather a part of the base.

I knew that we would not be leaving Afghanhistan... he told me such (and Empire requires it) but a few of the other promises not kept are problematic.

And you know what? Gibbs put his foot in his mouth so spectacularly that they have walked it back. Why? They know this has cost them votes, not in 2012, but 2010... You might not care about it, but they do.

As to your part of the problem comment... when populist revolt is in the air... statements like that one just add gasoline to the fire. And I am sure you do not get why, or why they are losing legitimacy.

So the newsworthiness to tuned in democrats, who know she is the best choice, is met with, 'of course'!

29. I'm sorry, but you operate from a standpoint, that whatever you want
should be a given and so there should be no credit given,
and that name calling isn't something that folks who despise this President
right here on this site don't often do.

Both of those things are false.
Of course credit should be given for a good move, no matter if it was an obvious one,
especially when we have treads here calling this president a corporatist sell out and shit....
and as for the name calling, since folks have been calling this president a coward, wimp,
not a leader, a sell out, a puppet, etc....why not have the name calling be a two way street.

Whatever happened to the "get the fuck out of the kitchen if it's too hot"
and the "If you can dish it out, be ready to take it" talk that I have heard from
all of those who complain that other don't have the spine. Now all of the sudden,
none of it means anything anymore.

38. You've been on DU more than long enough to have seen this scenario dozens of times..
If not hundreds by now, it's a common DU phenomenon. Indeed, the phenomenon is not limited to DU but is common throughout the internets.

But DU is particularly prone to fixating on one subject to the exclusion of practically everything else, or at least it can certainly look that way.

You were here for Michael Jackson's passing, that eclipsed *everything* for days on end.

45. I just thought we were more balanced, rational, and nuanced
than that.

I thought we would keep things in proper perspective.

I didn't realize that we were gonna twist some quotes and
then go all in, on what someone said that won't make a difference to one child,
and ignore totally something that appears to be coming true that just last week
was what everyone wanted, and in fact, I read that some DUers were gonna withhold
their vote if Warren wasn't named. The speculations went on all week about how
the WH wasn't gonna do it. Then there is the State aid thing that is gonna help
millions. Almost nothing on that.

The truth is that folks are searching for an excuse, and Gibbs obviously gave
them one.

77. And they don't want our votes, right?
Who has the bully pulpit and who is all but voiceless in America?

I wish they would push back as hard against the Republicans as they do against the Democratic wing of the Democratic party.

56. Really........
I thought you exhibited Hysteria in that thread of mine, a few months back.

If I recalled, you were simply outraged....enough so, I guess, that you needed
to mention it again now. Hold on to that.....I'm sure you'll need it again.

It's all about today's talking points. But that was a bogus thread, and yeah, I remember it.

61. You don't know what matters to me,
you only presume to know....which is what those feeling entitled often do.

79. Actually, when you tell people they can kiss your ass
your priorities are pretty clear. It has nothing to do with a sense of entitlement unless it's yours.

50. Gibbs, cutting twelve billion from food stamps, and giving over control of the internet to the corps
works for me today. I'll give credit for the most obvious appointment in American history when and if out comes since the right and best thing is so hard to ever do.

55. So the 20 Billion states aid and Warren being rumored isn't of any use to you in your repertoire of
negativity, are they? No balance required, right?

69. Nope not a bit. I seldom see any balance from you either
I'm probably more balanced than you'll ever pretend to be.

I give credit when I think it is due, unfortunately that is more and more rare and increasingly comes with a "yeah, but" that stinks pretty damn bad.

75. Well, thank goodness for the credit "you give".
I'm humbled by your presence!
Feeling a bit indignant today, hey?
I understand. I would too if I'd been
spending most of my time posting negative
shit each and every day.
