If you had the cash, would you buy the General Motors IPO?
I would. I think the company as it is now constituted will do well.

I think the Volt will not do well, but will be the first in a succession of electric cars that *will* do well, mid and long term.

I think the Volt will only point out what you don't do with an electric car. It's just a matter of being first. Even though this is not realy GM's first electric, it is their first production for general sale electric. GM will do as they always do. Force a flawed design to far outlive it's production value.

The competition however will closely watch the Volt and surpass them quite quickly, learning from GM's mistakes at a far quicker rate than GM will.

13. Absolutely. It may drop a bit initially, but long term it will soar.
The IPO will probably be the lowest price you can get in on and it is likely to split before long. If it goes up dramatically, sell half.

15. GM was basically socialized and now it's going to go back to being a private company - so no, it
will likely fail again when it no longer has the largesse of government behind it.
