We Won Or We Think We Did

The teevee tells me it's the official end of the Iraq war, except for the 50,000 or so we seem to leave behind everywhere we go.

Not really the end, of course, but I guess we can pretend for a bit. Here's a reminder of how we went there in the first place, from Richard Cohen.

The evidence he presented to the United Nations -- some of it circumstantial, some of it absolutely bone-chilling in its detail -- had to prove to anyone that Iraq not only hasn't accounted for its weapons of mass destruction but without a doubt still retains them. Only a fool -- or possibly a Frenchman -- could conclude otherwise.

And Natalie can speak for the fools and Frenchmen among us.

.....................

Tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, died because of bullshit like this, and yet these assholes have suffered no accountability.

The real fools still reign supreme.

*Also to those who are kvetching that we aren't having homecoming parades and patting Obama on the back for ending the war, Miss Manners says it's unseemly for a country to celebrate the end of its illegal invasion of another country. It's best to keep such things understated.

Halliburton gets letter of intent for Iraq oil

HOUSTON
Halliburton Co. said on Wednesday that it has gotten a letter of intent from Shell Iraq Petroleum Development BV that would make Halliburton the project manager for developing the Majnoon field in southern Iraq.

1. Halliburton...that would be the company that moved its headquarters to avoid
paying U.S. taxes, would it not?

And that would also be the company that made so much on those lucrative no-bid war contracts, correct?

And it would also be the very same company that former Vice President Dick Cheney ran, right?

I thought so. ;)
