Black Republican: Sarah Palin Doesn't Speak For Us
Gee,they found another black Republican. That makes six of them, right?

Timothy Johnson, who as chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation works to get African-American Republican officials elected and grow the ranks of black members of the party, says that Sarah Palin needs to clarify her defense of Dr. Laura Schlessinger. He also says Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele needs to speak out against Palin.

The former Alaska governor made waves yesterday by defending conservative radio talker Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s use of the n-word in a conversation with a radio caller. Schlessinger has since announced that she is stepping down from her top-rated program.

14. Do we give Lyndon LaRouche a platform to speak?
Do we trot Lyndon around the country and bring him on Faux News.

I would suspect if we looked at the entire voter list of democrats out there we'd find some really shitty people who are registered as democrats. The difference between them and Sarah Palin - they aren't being promoted by our party.

The republican party knew that Sarah Palin was a mental lightweight. She was, without a doubt, a political fluke who happened to be at the right place at the right time when she ran for governor. Republicans other choice was Frank Murkowski and well not only was he corrupt but not a pretty site to look at either (and yes I'm saying it - I'm sure Sarah's looks did help her stand out as she ran for governor).

McCain and the people who ran their campaign didn't actually look to see if this woman was qualified to be a heartbeat away from the US Presidency. THey figured that since Obama didn't pick Clinton and there was supposively all these angry women out there ready to ditch the dem part for that slight, that Palin would be a lame attempt to bring them over to the republican side. Of course what McCain didn't realize is those 'PUMA' numbers were overbloated by the media AND that in general democratic women are smart enough to not vote with their ovaries (unlike some men who vote with their you know what). Had McCain wanted a smart woman who might attract moderates he had many many MANY more qualified choices out there like Kay Bailey Hutchison, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Christie Todd Whitman, Linda Lingle, Jodi Rell to name a few. But then again any smart republican woman probably saw thru McCain's desperate attempts to try and win the election and didn't want to end up like a Geraldine Ferraro, the first woman on the VP ticket and she pretty much faded to obscurity after that election bomb of a race with Walter Mondale.

So yes, Sarah Palin DOES represent all republicans because she's being trotted out there by Republicans to help try and sell their morally bankrupt system.

16. sometimes I make valid ones - I should enjoy the momment while I can. But one other thing.
I live in a state with a moderate republican representative - Mike Castle. In fact he is running for Joe Biden's old senate seat. Castle is not a bad person. He's mostly moderate, pro-environment and pro-choice and has supported several other issues very near and dear to me.

But if I voted for Mike Castle then I'm voting for the concept that people like Mitch McConnell and other conservative senate nutjobs represent the ideas that I believe in. Because no matter how moderate Mike Castle is, he's still an 'R'in their side and would help put Mitch McConnell in the majority.

Btw, I've told that to Castle a couple of times. I said if he left the party I'd actually vote for him. He just had chuckle and said thank you.

7. Yeah, he'll be walking this back toot sweet
Just like any Republican who falls out of line with Boss Limbaugh, they all come scurrying back, pulling the forelock and begging forgiveness. After a suitable display of public humility, they're welcomed back into the fold. But the marker placed in their permanent record never really goes away.

6. Mr. Johnson has to realize that Steele won't speak out against Palin.
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 04:40 PM by political_Dem
The head of the RNC is only a puppet who echoes what his RW handlers tell him. The RW talk show hosts have more power than he does.

As in the past, the Black folks of the Republican party will make excuses for their racist, fellow members. Steele, Condi and Keyes--being the biggest culprits--will laugh it off and pretend that the nasty shenanigans executed by their comrades in the RW didn't happen.

So, Mr. Johnson can beg Palin all he likes. She's not going to listen to him.

He must have been asleep when Sarah did all that boot stomping with McCain during the 2008 election as they both stirred up racial animosity against Mr. Obama and his family.

He also must have missed the fact that she and her husband were front and center as members of a separatist group.

In the end, the brother needs to wake up and smell the coffee a little bit more.

8. I wonder what will happen when this idiot realizes what the GOP actually stands for
Didn't all those little lawn jockey statues outside of his Republican friends homes give him a clue?

9. Wake up, Mr. Johnson
He should be lucky that the repubs let him speak at all. His concerns will be dismissed and he'll be told to sit down, shut up, and read the script. NO AD LIBBING!

As for denouncing the remarks--won't happen. They're catering to their base, and people that look like Timothy Johnson aren't included. Mikey Steele is just window dressing and trotted out to provide cover.
