2. Dean says we need to listen to what..
people are saying are we not people? Are they listening to what we are saying?

He really believes this shit about it being a sacred area but the community center is two blocks away and he sounds ignorant when there is already a mosque there and it is not a mosque.

They really have some type of block in their mind about muslims do they realize there are a lot of muslims in this country. Bush brought a lot of them so what are they complaining about.

I guess he thinks the people he is listening to are more important so our voices don't matter we have to follow their lead because they say 911..

3. Dean said the extremists (and he named them) have marginalized themselves.
There is no reason to have any kind of discussion with them.

Well, of course.

He says 9/11 survivors and others should talk with proponents. That would be survivors on both sides of the issue. No extremists media assholes. He is suggesting a dialogue amongst reasonable people, not the usual whackadoodles. The Iman is a friend of Bush after all. Without the media hate machine involved, cooler heads will probably prevail.

4. a few thoughts about the ramifications of compromising on the Islamic community center
The building and land were bought legally or perhaps donated. Doesn't ownership pretty much give the Muslims the right to do anything they want with the land within the boundaries defined by local zoning restrictions? (I make the assumption that zoning restrictions are applied equitably.)

If a group of citizens feel strong enough about not wanting the community center shouldn't that group be required to buy them out or offer a building/land trade of equal or greater value? (I am thinking about the same kind of thing as airport expansions that usually offer an above market price for community members' homes to entice them into selling and relocating.)

Presuming the owners are inclined to the sell or trade of the building/land and relocate, do they not have any obligation toward their targeted membership? (I chose the church that my grandson and I attend precisely because it is within walking distance from our apartment. I am an extremely poor driver and I know my limitations. If this church was forced or decided to move to a site that was 10 - 25 miles away, what options would we have about church attendance. I presume the same is true for the proposed members of the Muslim Community. There must be at least a few that are looking forward to the completion of the renovations because the location is convenient and any relocation might be a hardship for them.)

I haven't heard any discussion on these issues and I wonder why
