Poll question: The White House accepts Simpson's "apology", Do you?
Here is the letter:

http://library.constantcontact.com/doc209/1102372204926/doc/sVSMT2oCX0EFU3Or.pdf

Dear Ms. Carson,
Someone was good enough to forward me your column of “Enough with the Pink Panthers Bit” of April 27,
2010.

Some of what you say is true. Much is not – but that’s nothing new about public life for me! I have news for
you too, my friend. There may be no group called the Pink Panthers working to protect Social Security but I
sure as hell am! I’ve spent many years in public life trying to stabilize that system while people like you babble
into the vapors about “disgusting attempts at ageism and sexism” and all the rest of that crap.

Now hold on tight, because you won’t like what I’m sending you. You may obviously be aware that the Social
Security system is “in trouble.” If you don’t agree with that, then there is no need to read any further. But I wish
to share with you the presentation by Stephen C. Goss, Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration on

May 12, 2010 to the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. If you think the statistics on
poverty for seniors are alarming – then you need to read this little pamphlet to know what is really alarming.

If we can’t get a handle on this system and make it sustainable and assure long term solvency, and make some
changes that are “minor” at the present time and will become “major” as each year passes, then take a look at
the chart on Page 6 which I hope you are able to discern if you are any good at reading graphs – or anything that
might challenge your biases and prejudices.

Anyway, have a look at it and if you should choose, you might communicate with me. If you have some better
suggestions about how to stabilize Social Security instead of just babbling into the vapors, let me know. And
yes, I’ve made some plenty smart cracks about people on Social Security who milk it to the last degree. You
know ‘em too. It’s the same with any system in America. We’ve reached a point now where it’s like a milk cow
with 310 million tits! Call when you get honest work!

14. Exactly. I don't think the whitehouse ever cared whether he
insulted everyone on Social Security. After all, they're just poor people. So long as Obama isn't personally feeling the fallout, they won't give a damn about any insult aimed at poor people.

They're planning on gutting Social Security, so as far as they're concerned, Simpson's hatred of people on Social Security is probably one of his leading qualifications for his current position. :(

2. The only apology i will accept is
His resignation from the commission and his recommendation to remove the cap permanently and dissolve the cat food commission.

4. An apology from a rethuglican isn't worth a damn.

The only reason they ever go through the motions is because they are forced to or because their lawyer recommends it.

The "macaca" incident is a fine example.

7. No, I don't. I signed petitions and emailed the WH against that old fart
and yet again got no satisfaction with the current administration.

Which Dems will be running against Obama in 2012?

10. Actually I think that they see our
emails, comments etc. and find some sort of satisfaction that they must be doing the right thing because they have sufficiently dissed the left. Of course it isn't just 'the left' but they that's what they think. If they do this they feel all bipartisan-y, to them this is the right thing, to move right against the base. They use our words and anger to validate their positions.

8. Nope and by accepting it the White House has gone all in on what side they are on.
Now Barack Obama OWNS Simpson and his words. There is no reason or excuse for any distinction between the two just as the President owns BP's crimes by covering and abetting for them.

11. I don't want his #$%^!&* apology. I want his wrinkled keister GONE.
Not that it would make a damned bit of difference either way. The MIC/Wall Street/rebubbalickins/wanna-be rebubbalickins/banksters/etc./etc./etc. have been licking their greasy lips over SS for years -- and now they're on the verge of success.

Alan "Nursing at the Public Teat for Over Twenty Years" Simpson is just playing "bad cop" in this bit of theater. The President knew exactly what he was and what his opinions were when he appointed him.
