Billionaire Donald Bren does not need to pay more child support, jury rules
An L.A. jury on Thursday ruled that Irvine Co. billionaire Donald Bren does not have to pay additional child support for his adult children.

Lawyers for the children — Christie Bren, 22, and David Bren, 18 — had been seeking retroactive child support of $400,000 a month each. They had contended that out-of-court payments Bren made to their mother when they were youngsters were well below what would have been awarded in a family court.

But Bren's attorneys had pointed out that he made four separate agreements with former girlfriend Jennifer McKay Gold, 55, and stuck to each, providing generously for the children.

--snip--

In court last week, Bren, 78, had described his relationship with Gold as a loveless, infrequent romance that was never meant to lead to marriage or children. He said he was shocked when he learned Gold had become pregnant the first time and was even more stunned the second time around.

Phooey. A member of the rich elite in America gets off the hook again. If Bren were a resident of, say South Central, would the jury ruling have differed?

According to Wikipedia, Bren is a big-time Republican donor:

Bren is a strong supporter of Republicans, with Forbes describing him in 2008 as "actively involved in McCain's presidential bid."<3> He and his wife have donated large sums to the RNC and to primarily Republican candidates. The Center for Responsive Politics database shows less than 1% of his donations have gone to Democrats.<42>

What a misogynistic uber-patriarchal deadbeat spoiled bastard.

1. You know, you think after one child he'd learn about finding his own forms of birth control
because clearly she wasn't making efforts on that front.

2. What else would you expect from
someone who supported John McCain? The same John McCain who chided his own wife and children.

5. Megarich Celtics owner (80-90s) had a child with his longtime mistress and they were both dumped.

People like that are sick bastards - they weary of mistresses as easily as they weary of wives. And the children suffer for a lifetime faced with the reality that they were REJECTED by their father.

6. Deadbeat?
I just have to point out that both sides acknowledge that he paid $3 million in child support from 1988 to 2002, which pencils out to a smidge under $18,000 a month. These two may not have lived the high life, but they didn't exactly grow up poor.

The kids (and their lawyers) got a powerful whiff of how much there was and want it badly.

Dad's a bastard, Mom's a gold-digging little tramp, and the kids are spoiied brat Paris Hilton clones.
