Worker at taxpayer-funded agency in Virginia plays hooky for 12 years

(CNN) -- A worker was paid for 12 years without ever showing up for work at a Norfolk, Virginia, agency funded by federal, state and local money, officials say.

Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim told CNN on Friday that when a new director took over at Norfolk Community Services Board recently, she was "doing her due diligence" when she discovered the hooky-playing employee was on the books. The director, Maureen Womack, then notified the city attorney's office, Fraim said.

----------------

CNN affiliate WAVY said that the employee, a woman whose name was not released, "earned" somewhere between $300,000 and $480,000, not including full benefits, from the board over the past dozen years.

1. Thus outperforming most Republican officials with 12-years or more tenure.

2. And the GOPigs are worried about unemployment fund abuse? Can I telecommute?
I offered to sacrifice my personal pride to do this once before when the MSM reported that the Bush government was paying for "ghost employees" to rebuild Iraq after the bombing. They paid people who never showed up.

I volunteered not only to not show up, but I promised to call in every day & rattle chains & make spooky noises if they would put me on the payroll. Of course I'm not a Republican so that's probably why no one called me back.

Now, here in VA, I humbly offer my services yet again for the good of the community. I'll even take a pay cut. :banghead:

Here's my serious take: they might as WELL be state or city employees since these places are completely funded by taxpayers. And every manager who was in charge of that facility for the last 12 years should be fined as well since they obviously didn't do their jobs or it wouldn't have gone on this long.
