Did any of you listen to thom Hartmann today? He had a Reverand
somebody (forget his name) who was talking about Beck & explaining what the Mormons really believe, and if those RWers KNEW what Beck was really saying during all his preaching, they'd have tossed him IN the reflecting pool with lead weights around his neck! Things like, Mormons don't beleve in the same Jesus that Christans do. They believe Jesus was the son of Mary & brother of Satan. They are a polytheist group who believe any of them can become god. He went on & on with all these wild beliefs. If he would have been on any other show, I'd have probably dismissed him as a real nut, but Thom is no dummy & he didn't counter this Rev. on anything he said. I also googled Glen Beck Mormon & found several articles that confirm a lot of what he said.

I'd LOVE to get that info out to all the Becksters to show them what he REALLY IS!!

1. like Christians and Bible, many Mormons just ingore some of their doctrine
i.e., God created the earth in 7 METAPHORICAL days, not literal 24 hour Earth Days, etc. ad infinitum.

2. Sounds credible to me. Beck thinks he's God already.

4. Their was a post to DU about an experience a DUer had with a neighbor. The
right wing neighbor got turned around about FOX when the DUer told him that the owner was a foreigner and that Beck was a Mormon. That's the way I remember it - I was just scanning. Perhaps someone will remember it accurately.

It was an interesting the way it played out. It may have ha FOX in the title, but so do alot of threads. Sorry, I can't take the time to search for it. I think I remember reading about it on Saturday, maybe Friday.

There is a huge Christ disparity among Christians. Some of the Protestants are rabid about Mormons and Catholics not being Christians.

Beck did say that he was Mormon in the interview with Wallace on Sunday that is now showing up on DU.

5. This is why Mittens never got any traction with the RW
LDS adherents believe some rather bizarre things like the USA is God's end-time kingdom.

Watch for Beckkk's next move - joining up with the Dominionists to "conquer the world".

6. They don't know he's Mormon? He used to talk about being Mormon
on his radio show, before he was infamous.

7. Well it depends of course. All that stuff is true BUT
There are things just as wild and wacky in the good ol' KJV too, and the generic Christian response is "well we just ignore all that stuff as metaphorical so we're not crazy just because the book has crazy things in it". Mormons may be less likely to be quite so openly blasé about it but they can and do still use the same defense.

8. Mormons are really hated here in the bible belt.
They don't think they are Christians and say a bunch of crazy stuff about them. I think Mormons are right up there with Muslims in the red neck crowds around here. So, I really don't believe Mitt could ever get elected because the white racist base of the RepubliCONS will never vote for him. It will be another slaughter for the RepubliCONS if they push Mitt in 2012.
