I'm surprised Obama said "nobody can question Bush's love of our troops

Obama basically dismissed Dubya with a platitude. It was subtle but Barack Obama is not a spiteful man.

How much taxpayer money is being wasted on that irrelevant crap when men who were responsible for the deaths of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians are still walking around.. laughing all the way to their banks..every single day...!

26. Did you also sense that tremendous lack of sincerity when he said it?
Why was it necessary for him to do this?
He can only win by not backing down. One has to forcefully step up to the plate, state and explain your stance, and stay there unwaveringly to gain and keep power and backing.

President Obamas attempts at engaging and catering to the other side have all failed, will continue to do so, and will cost him so much I'm afraid to the core.

But that's not news.

What is news is that he did it in this particular speech.
I am sorely disappointed.

36. I watched a film today, "Bulletproof Salesman."
"This disturbing film had its World Premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX. It is a troubling film about a man who makes it his business to make money as a war profiteer and is proud of it. German war profiteer Fidelis Cloer clearly enjoys his work selling armored cars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a microcosm of the capitalist system. He exists to make money and war is simply an extension of business to him. He wants to make the best product and sell it and thus protect his clients. He doesn't seem to care that his products are used as part of a war machine. He seems to have no political conscience or concern. He went to Iraq at the beginning of the war in 2003, because he believed things would get worse and there would be an opportunity to profit."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1186201/

Cloer is a Capitalistic pig, but he is also painfully honest about what Iraq was really about. At one point he states, "Iraq ia a complete failure. When they leave, all
resources will be transferred to Afghanistan. If they lose Afghanistan the entire region will fall into chaos.

Watching Obama tonight all I could think was that for all the talk of finally focusing on the middle-class, jobs, infrastructure, the focus will be on Afghanistan.
The only thing that has changed is logistics. I think things are going to escalate beyond anything we saw in Iraq.

40. Bush did love the troops
All rich people love the troops for being cannon fodder for their imperialist adventures. Poor people get sent to die. get maimed or get so mentally fucked up that they end up killing themselves so rich people can get richer and sit by their pools and eat caviar and collect dividends from their investments in Halliburton, et al. It's time to chop their heads off. Let's do it before they stop laughing at us.
