We're think you're suicidal, so if you don't go to the hospital we're gonna Tase you
Another day, another mind-wrenchingly stupid Tasing. A lawsuit has brought out the details from an incident last year.

64 year old man falls down his front steps, medics are called. While he's being treated, he remarks that if he had a gun, he'd shoot himself, which prompts a visit from sheriff's deputies. They want to take him to the hospital, he may be "suicidal." He won't go... and you know the rest. They Tase him 3 fucking times.

There's video of the guy getting zapped at the link.
... "All of a sudden, they just showed up, they came in here like there was a fire going on, like a gunfight was going on," McFarland said.

What happened in the following minutes was captured on a camera mounted on the deputy's Taser.

The deputy tells McFarland he is going to take him to the hospital because he may be suicidal.

...

The deputy orders him numerous times to get up or else.

"Stand up, put your hands behind your back or you're going to be Tased," the deputy says.

...

The exchange goes on for about five minutes; his wife keeps pleading with the deputies not to Tase him, saying he has a heart condition...

1. So, the resisting charge is dismissed by a judge.
But what do you want to bet, it's still on his print-out, sitting there for the next time he's pulled over for a tail light.

This guy is lucky they didn't kill him. Stupid mofos.

2. Yeah, I'll bet that's so
Marin County. If this crap is going on in moneyed suburbia, I can guess how often it happens elsewhere. Tasers are reducing the smarts and skillset of the average policeman to that of a mall cop.
