What Does Alan Simpson Need To Say To Be Fired?
http://networkedblogs.com/7t0NB

Alan Simpson has decided that he’s done kicking the elderly and the poor by trying to take away their Social Security money and has found a new target, disabled veterans. According to Simpson, “The irony (is) that the veterans who saved this country are now, in a way, not helping us to save the country in this fiscal mess,” by collecting their disability payments for illness that may be linked to Agent Orange exposure.

Apparently risking their lives and limbs for this country is not enough for Alan Simpson. Veterans now need to trim the budget deficit that he and his Republican buddies helped create with their wasteful spending and unpaid tax cuts for the wealthy. According to the VA, the payments to the disabled veterans will cost approximately 67 billion dollars to continue over the course of the next 10 years.

Meanwhile, repealing the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy would save the government 678 billion dollars over the next ten years, which would pay for the veterans benefits ten times. Of course, that would inconvenience Alan Simpson’s rich buddies and hurt Republican Party fund-raising efforts so we can’t have that. In a letter sent to the White House, VoteVets, one of the largest veterans groups which represents over 50,000 veterans nationwide is now calling on President Obama to fire Alan Simpson for his comments.

1. If he said something derogatory about Rahm Emanuel that might do it.
Or maybe not. Who knows how low the bar has been set?

2. Well, if Fox "News" wants him fired then he's finished, but

12. If he said that, Obama would fire him immediately
This isn't Obama bashing, just a statement of fact.

I thought the whole "let's privatize/gut Social Security" thing was over when we got rid of Bush.

13. That is my belief. If he told the truth about Social Security, he'd be gone in a flash.

9. He'd need to say something liberal......
...or at the very least something perceived to be liberal. That's the only thing that manages to get someone dismissed by this administration.

10. Shameful. All those embittered Vets
selfishly clinging to their sorry lives when they could so easily do the Patriotic thing and die, so their betters wouldn't be burdened with their care.

14. He needs to support union busting? Oh, that's acceptable behavior for another commission member.

A union busting CEO on Obama's Deficit Commission is willing to risk nuclear fallout in a town

19. Just suggest cutting the Pentagon Budget to balance the budget.
He'll be fired before the day is done. We'll see the resignation letter Everywhere! Every news organization would be demanding to see it immediately, and they'd get it.
