Yonnie Barrios' wife, Marta Salinas, and his secret lover, Susana Valenzuela, were both holding vigils for him outside the San Jose mine.

His wife was stunned and horrified when she heard his mistress shouting her husband's name amid a crowd of miners' loved ones.

But, Salinas refuses to let the "other" woman win. She told friends, "Barrios is my husband. He loves me and I am his devoted wife. This woman has no legitimacy."

That's not what the mistress is saying. She says that Barrios, 50, and her met on a training course 5 years ago and that he was planning to leave his wife for her. "We are in love. I'll wait for him," she said.

Meanwhile, Barrios has been one of the heroes of the landslide drama. He's been using his first-aid training to treat sick colleagues. He also vaccinated all 33 men, including himself, against flu and pneumonia.
