Just Got Off The Phone...Grassroots Dems
They were calling me to continue contributing to the Dem cause.

I gave her an earful.

After telling her how disappointed I was that our President squandered the historic opportunity he had to return our country to some sense of sanity, I asked her if she receives other responses like mine.
He said yes she does...she laughed a little (nervous laugh) and stated that she has been hearing from a lot of Dems that feel exactly the way I do.

I finished by saying that I "know" what the Republicans will do...I'm never surprised when then screw the people. There is only one thing worse...that's when my own party acts contrary to the Democratic principles that made our party "The Party of the People."

Then I contributed.

2. More of us need to do this!
The only way we "change" this country is by letting the dems in charge know we will withhold support until they start acting like Democrats.

3. Good job, Steely! I hope these messages make it through the DC bubble and
those who need to begin to take this seriously. :patriot:

7. The only way they'll get the message is if we stop sending them money
Not that the amounts most of us contribute mean all that much to them.

Chances are the person calling was a paid worker, not a party volunteer and your verbal message will go no where.

8. That's all my messages ever say -- If you don't support X, I am fully prepared
and able to support your opposition... Even if they're not my reps, I just preface it by saying "Although not a constituent, I am fully..." That's all that matters. It's always the fucking money.

4. "historic opportunity" - Totally blown in the first year
by trying to compromise with the same ones who destroyed this country. O was given the opportunity to reverse all of Chimpy McCoke Spoon's policies.

I don't know what cause you ultimately contributed to, but the party will not get another dime from me.

I only give through Act Blue now, to individual candidates.

5. I respect your choice not to...
contribute to the Dem Party.

As you can see, I wasn't going to either. Not after what has happened. However, in the end, I know that I must support the Dems regardless of how disappointed I am. I simply can't be a part of the Repubs taking over. It doesn't lessen my severe disappointment.

6. At least you contributed
As much as we may disagree with the way the DLC does things, at least there are people out there on the ground attempting to reach out to voters. If I were you I would have sincerely thanked the person on the phone, its because of grassroots volunteers like them that we will even stand a chance this November. Its nice to get all huffy and think that you are being really principled when you rant at this girl, but in reality all you are probably doing is making her less enthusiastic and increasing the likelihood she will not attend the next phone-bank because so many of the dems she talks to are so angry and unmotivated.

10. I Left Out An Important...

...part of the conversation.

While I was ranting at her...I sprinkled in my sincere appreciation for what she was doing. I just want to make that clear. I told her that her work was admirable...particularly for someone so young (she is 21).

I could not be more of a critic of the current Administration. Sometimes words are not enough to express my disappointment. However, I would not be doing anyone any favors by not contributing and NOT voting. I must say that in voting, there is a part of me that feels I am only contributing to a group that does not share or support my beliefs. I'm also aware that the current Administration KNOWS that I will vote...A part of me feels that this is an additional betrayal.

The bottom line is that people have fought and died for my right to vote. I owe it to them if to no one else.
