Why are there presidential debates in May of 2007?
Are the American people even paying attention to them? (Other than the political diehards, of course)

I suppose it could winnow the field a bit and provide more fundraising opportunities for the perceived "winners" of the debates.

It just seems far too early to gain my interest.

1. The circus is in town, but few are buying tickets.
“Now, the man on the stand he wants my vote,
He's a-runnin' for office on the ballot note.
He's out there preachin' in front of the steeple,
Tellin' me he loves all kinds-a people.
(He's eatin' bagels
He's eatin' pizza
He's eatin' chitlins
He's eatin' bullshit!)”

Bob Dylan

2. It's a symptom of bush fatigue
The amurkin people are so fed up with this current so called administration they are desperately searching for a replacement.

3. A couple, but the bigs ones are money and distraction
The media is hooked on the money the political system throws at it, and they are controled by right wing interests.
Right now the bfee is looking to make people look away, and the media while getting restless stills totes the water for the bushies*, and they are throwing money at them to keep it up.

4. It keeps the media focused and spinning on things
other than the issues that haven't been discussed and are of the most significance.

8. People want anything, ANYTHING
so they can ignore the current president. If your interested in politics there is only the future to look forward too, cause the present is way to depressing.

9. No - the American people (outside of political junkies) aren't
paying attention to them. Hell, I'm a political junkie and I'm not watching them. They're a complete waste of my valuable time right now.

Ask me in September.
