My avatar is missing.
It suddenly disappeared today. (At least today is when I first noticed.) Now I see that others (avatars) are also missing, but only a few. Does anyone know what's up?

it's a bw photo of a woman. (I'm sorry; I'm not sure who she is.)
You may want to try clearing your browser cache. You can usually do that via the options or preferences menu in the browser.

I've got my notebook browser set to clear on closing, so I wasn't even thinking in that direction. Man have I got a lot of tabs open - and I can't remember when I shut down last.

(Thank goodness) we've got so many smartypants here at DU. LOL. I knew someone would be able to help me if I asked.

4. Sometimes when traffic levels are high DU stops serving images to save bandwidth.
Usually there is a banner at the top and bottom of every page that indicates when measures are being taken due to high traffic levels.
