9/11 McCarthyism: a list.

McCarthyism is using a nation's fear as an aid to unfairly attack innocent people.

1. Before the dust of 9/11 even settles Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson start to point their fingers at Americans who did not cause 9/11. In fact one of their targets (a gay man) worked to stop one attack. Falwell and Robertson's attack even implicated God in the 9/11 attacks! Well, they did prove to be prophets in showing how 9/11 would be shamelessly used.

2. Bush uses 9/11 to start two wars. The main victims of these wars had nothing to do with 9/11.

3. Bush uses 9/11 to pass the Patriot Act. This act would be used against Americans who check out library books among other acts of McCarthyism.

4. In an attempt to win the 2010 mid-term elections, Republicans use fear of 9/11 to deny Americans the right to practice their religion by building a Mosque in New York City.

5. Following the Mosque McCarthyism, a Mosque in Tennessee is attacked by an arsonist.

Glenn Beck and the baggers will tell you, without a hint of irony, that Joe McCarthy was vindicated

FYI, that is what is being taught in Texas schools to high school students.

I'd also wager that fewer and fewer Americans know who "Tail Gunner Joe" is.

I think it's time to come up with a reference today's audience can relate to.
