More indication that it is all just a game to the media

For weeks, the ratio of GOP guests to Democratic guests on Morning Joe was about 3 to 1. For every Howard Dean, there was three conservative guests.

Now.... with polls showing the GOP looking strong for November... Morning Joe has had Democrat after Democrat after Democrat on today...

Axelrod... Kaine... Rendell.


Why?


Morning Joe is interested in fueling the "Democratic comeback" story now.


They want a 50-50 nailbiter election. It drives ratings.


I predict you'll see the same thing on other networks too.


Then... if the Dems move back ahead in the polls... you'll see GOP guest after GOP guest after GOP guest.




I understand their motivation.... ratings are they're lifeblood. But it sucks that we don't really have an independent and unbiased media.

All of the media is owned by Wall St - 6 large corporations own it all. Their sole objective is profit (big ratings = big profit)

NOTHING else matters.

This year the networks and their affiliated radio and teevee stations stand to make billions in selling political commercials not only to candidates (for top $$$$) but the many "issue advocacy" groups. The more divisive the political atmosphere, the more money is spent and the more eyeballs are watching which means even more money. The cables thrive off of controversy...and when there isn't a legitimate one, they make it up. It's all about power and money and their ability to make the politicians dance and then grab the money.
